Think of it another way: you probably have unfinished business or goals you were working on before you woke up here, right? Most people do. If you're alive and have something to get back to, then what would you do to get out of here and back there?
But if you were certain you're dead and there's no going back, instead the question becomes what you will do with your new existence in this place?
This is a speculation but the most concrete motivation I can see now is that there's something in our reaction that whoever is behind this is interested in.
