I thought I would share this for the benefit of new arrivals and our more veteran individuals. So a bit of repetitive information for some of you, but I'm sure you'll forgive me.

Call me Daan. I am a doctor. There are a couple of others here as well if I'm not to your preferences, but I do currently a temporary location arranged if you need medical assistance. I will include it after my message is finished. We're working on something a bit more permanent, but due to the nature of the city and how it resets, our choices are scarce. So we'll make do for now.

Ideally, I'd like to perform a series of physicals for anyone who is willing. Just basic things to keep track of in case something happens. Blood pressure, height, weight, the same old same old. Obviously I wouldn't dream of forcing anyone to come if they don't want to, but consider it encouraged.

Now then. Let me know if any of you have any questions for me, and I'll do my best to answer.

Equipment we'd find usually in a hospital, ideally. Needles and syringes. Enzymes. If otherworldly abilities were more reliable, then we could probably skip some of that, but I'm afraid we're out of luck.

It's a bit more complicated than that. More along the lines of determining certain illnesses and healing them, but that would be me. I used to do those things.

Look, with the right circumstances, anyone where I'm from could learn these... magical skills. But most of the time I wouldn't really recommend it. It always comes with a price.

Healing wounds in general works, but only a little bit. You have a papercut? Sure, I can fix that. If you have a stab wound, we'll have to go with traditional medicine. So, it's more like those abilities aren't at their peak right now, but that's true for everyone.

Not for me. I'm switched off.

In any case, I could see why whoever is responsible might have... turned that part off? They probably don't want you to fuck with histories too much. Especially since we can barely make changes here as it is.

Yeah, I figured it's probably something like that. Or they don't want anyone to escape, if they can. It's not exactly like that for me, but the same basic concept.

I guess we can say that our masterminds... just want to keep us here? Otherwise everyone'd be at zero abilities, right?

They at least want to cage us as much as possible without us killing each other. Yet I beg to ask why they would see fit to make my abilities in particular so... muted. None of my otherworldly abilities can do any harm to anyone here, not really.

Maybe it's... more fair? The first time I was in one of these things, one of us was blind—so they slipped a card of extra rules into his pocket. You know, in Braille. [anyway,] Although taking everyone's abilities mostly-away is leveling the playing field in the opposite direction.

I'm not sure they care so much about fair here, but it's not an impossible theory.

Definitely not fair for us, but—well, we're the variables, right? Kromer said the kiosk finally coughed up that this has "happened before." Could be that making us all closer to some standard is part of whatever they're trying to do.
