[TO THE MALL...!!! ... She might be five or ten minutes late.]

[ altria, huh? prompto's sure to remember a name like that, and if she's late... well, he's used to sitting around and trying to calm his excess energy that comes from meeting someone new. it is a little unnerving with nothing to listen to or really see though, so he spends some time fiddling with his phone and when he finally notices someone approaching he's up on his feet.

there's a shy wave. ]

Hey! Are you Altria? [ a pause. ] Am I saying that right?

[excaliburden]

[She's red-cheeked and a little out of breath, like she's been running--and she waves eagerly when she spies him waving.]

Y-yes! [Whew...!!] That's me! S-sorry! I thought I knew where the mall was but it definitely was not the mall.

[Ahem. She straightens, brushing herself off sheepishly.]

Nice to meet you, Prompto!

[ ah... she's so cute. and small!! not that prompto's particularly tall himself, but he's definitely taller than altria. ]

It's nice to meet you too! [ he means that genuinely, smiling at her. ] Don't worry about it, okay? I think it's pretty easy to get turned around in this place. Kinda weird since there's not a whole lot of city traffic...

[ there's a shrug. ] You wanna go in? The shop we want is kinda near the back.

[She is... she's very used to craning her neck up at people. She beams at that, though, nodding eagerly.]

Okay! Lead the way!

[And, as he does:]

What made you decide to help teach people? Just out of curiosity.

[burstmodes]

[ he holds the door open for her and indicates which way they should go. ]

Oh, um. If I'm being honest? Boredom, mostly. [ there's a soft chuckle. ] Besides, there's only so many pics I can take myself. It'll be cool to see what other people see, you know?

[ they wander down one of the corridors, the sound of their footsteps eerily loud. ]

You ever use a camera before?

That makes sense!

[She could see how the days might drag on in a place like this, where things are either Happening All the Time, or nothing is happening. For her, nothing happening at all is kind of a nice change of pace, but she gets how it could very quickly get tedious.]

Oh, but no, never! I learned what they are here, actually. The little phone things have cameras in them, right?

[She knows Nothing.]

[ he stops to check a nearby directory, making sure they're going in the right direction. that, at least, allows him a second to look absolutely floored by her comment. ]

Like never never? Man... I guess I didn't think people might not know what cameras are. [ it makes him even more determined now!! ] It does though, yeah. I can show you how to use that too, if you want. Might be a little easier than diving into other stuff so fast.

[It's weird, she supposes--maybe the upper class faeries in Norwich have seen them? But! Now she's the one here, learning how to use them. So the upper class faeries can suck it!]

I'm happy to learn whatever you're willing to teach me... oh, but I want to see the way that you usually use a camera too! It sounds like you know lots about them, so...

[There's something lovely about seeing people talk about their passions, she thinks.]

[ unable to help it, he's suddenly flustered. that's such a nice thing to say, and he rubs his hand through his hair. ]

I can show you! Let's get into the store, and we'll start there. That way you have something to do while I talk.

[ because he doesn't know about her, but prompto needs something to do with his hands. and hands-on learning is the best kind of learning. ]

Okaaaay, that sounds good!

[She'll follow along as he leads, since he's the one who was smart enough to check the map and directory.]

So, so... what got you into using cameras?

[burstmodes]

[ he hums thoughtfully. ]

Not sure, honestly. I sort of used it to keep track of things, and it kinda got to be a habit. [ when they finally make it to the store, he stops just short of the entrance like he's checking to see if anyone's inside. last time he'd been to the mall hadn't exactly ended well... ] Come on! Let's go shopping.

[ she can pick out anything she wants. ]

[YAY, SHOPPING. She's eager to come along, bouncing enthusiastically as she walks.]

What sorts of camera stuff should I be looking for? You'll help me pick things out, right?

[ he's near a stand looking at camera straps when she asks those questions. ]

Of course! Um... [ there's a thoughtful hum. ] Let's find you something easy to start with, and we can always work up from there once you get the hang of it.

[ which is when he directs her to a few models of digital cameras. there are a lot of functions on them, but he can go through them slowly for her once she picks out one she likes the look and feel of. ]

[Easy is good. She's on board with easy. When it becomes clear he really does want her to pick out her own, Altria starts to go through the digital cameras, bemusement on her face.

But she's been in the City long enough now that the technology isn't completely overwhelming. She at least knows what the buttons do--or, rather, that hitting buttons makes things happen.

So, ultimately, because she is a simple girl, she picks one of the digital cameras with the fewest buttons and options, and definitely one without a touch screen because that is Too Much.]
