I figured I would introduce myself, since it seems I won't be going anywhere anytime soon. My name is Oda Sakunosuke. In my world I worked as a detective, so I guess if anyone needs something like that, I can give it a shot.

[ he doesn't think he's very good at it, perhaps third-rate at best. but it's good to pool your resources together, right? collaborating in times of need or something like that. ]

I'd like to know what others did before coming here, and if you're still doing something related to it. Also, what's your favorite food? Mine's spicy curry.

Though you did emphasize the lack of pay as a motivator and referring to us as nosy mercenaries is usually not something that would be interpreted in a good way

My pay is actually not that great in the first place, so if that had been my motivation, I'd have quit a long time ago. I'd probably make better pay while gambling.

You're the one who made it clear that your primary motivator was money, and that it was in your words 'enough'. You also volunteered the information that you did not serve the public itself, but operated via a private agency.

If you aren't willing to be honest, or if you continuously change how you present yourself, it cannot be the fault of those you speak to if they misunderstand who you are, Detective.

To my knowledge, you have done nothing that I object to, nor that I would consider worthy of punishment, or of holding any grudge. But if you want to know my opinion of you, you need only ask.

A person is not two dimensional to only have one motivator and one personality trait. Money is a concept that drives everything and everyone, to some degree, but underneath or above that there can be a hundred thousand other factors that drive people through their daily lives. I'm sure you have yours, while I have mine, and others have theirs.

Each mind is a world of its own, and living is just trying to get those worlds to coexist in the endless nothingness.

And yet, despite the nuance of your stated opinion, you were more than willing to jump to the conclusion that I bear a grudge against your profession. Containing multitudes, indeed.
