because i certainly wouldn't mind being asked out for a meal and an evening in good company, myself. by someone worthy of the honor, of course; naturally, i'm a lady of discerning tastes.

Oh, I don't have doubt of your capabilities. [Even though she is handicapped in comparison to others, Y'shtola is a bold woman. That much he could figure out upon their first meeting.]

That doesn't mean it isn't polite to ask, naturally.

I suppose it is also not entirely unwarranted given what I've read over the Network in the last handful of suns.

I had my doubts, of course, and still do for some of the accounts. As we could plain see in this instance, it is simple enough for any to weave their fabrications.

It is difficult to take some things at face value, and better to investigate until you draw your own conclusions. I get it.

May I ask about the individual who used your phone?

Just so. But I will admit that there are certain extremes I'm unsure I would be willing to breach for the sake of curiosity.

He would be eminently more qualified to answer for himself, but there's still few I should be able to clarify on his behalf. What would you like to know?

People will do as they see fit, and I'm not in a position to stop them. Few of us are.

Do you trust him?

Mettle I do not have, though I'm unsure if that is something to be celebrated.

There are but the precious few I'd allow in my close proximity, let alone ones I need not maintain a cautious eye on.

Some would appreciate a certain set of morals and standards.

[He lets out a soft huff, almost a laugh.] That's not a "yes" or "no", so I take it that it's a bit complex. Reasonable. I'll take your answer to heart regardless.

Of which I worry might become lax with this newfound information. I imagine the relatively lax consequence in the murder of another might prove to be more encouragement than not.

'Tis not as complex as I might make it seem. Annoyance aside, there's no other in this current realm that I would trust more. ( but like, anyway. ) But you're free to judge him as you see fit.

Oh, it very likely will. Certainly, I hope it won't, but sometimes people will use an excuse for anything.

I don't really have a judgment at the moment. Other than he has an interesting sense of humor, but I've seen more twisted fellows.

I can't say that fills me with enthusiasm. There are bound to be limits to it, and even with my curiosity, I'd hate to find what that may be as the cost would have already been paid.

You call it a sense of humor, I call it masochism.

Having an inquisitive mind is healthy. But to do so without limits... there can be bloody results. Some people won't care about that. Best to prepare, I think, as best as we can.

[Daan gives a small laugh.] A glutton for punishment, then?

There's a thrill in it for him. One I cannot claim I wholly understand.

But never you mind that. I saw mention of a clinic you were seeking to manage?

You'd be correct. Is there something about it I can help you with? Answer additional questions?

I'm currently in no need for medical assistance, if that is your concern. I simply have an interest in an organization of our resources.

While the city itself seems keen on providing for us, I'd feel better for not having to rely on what's likely a conditional benevolence. I've some skill in the art of healing should you require the assistance.

Would you clarify what you mean? Scientific method, or by some otherworldly skill?

Both to a certain degree. I recognize that alchemy will prove more difficult to practice when some of the flora and fauna of my star are not found here. So until I better understand what is currently available, the latter will be of more use to you.
