all the same, knowing the sort of tricks this place gets up to, i rather think i'd better see about employing the services of a decent mechanic before i trust the reliability of this...gift of theirs

just to be certain it's not about to mysteriously glue me to the driver's seat

or compel me to confess my earliest childhood memory or some bollocks like that

In most cases, uncertain take off is usually done by a pair, if I'm not mistaken.

That is to say, if you need a buddy pilot, I wouldn't mind accompanying you. I couldn't help but notice it has two seats.

the ones who designed it have been dead for hundreds of years
tis an ancient relic of a bygone time

i wouldn't have wanted to be one of the ones tasked with figuring out how to restore the damned thing, to say the least
but i'm certainly grateful for their efforts

I think a perfect way to show gratitude for such an offering is to instigate a test drive. It wouldn't be much of a thanks if it were somehow booby-trapped. Though, even if it were, what's the worst that could happen?

The ones I've read about always seem to dress rather strangely and tell ridiculous stories about their lives in hyperbolic fashion in order to make money off of it.
