[When the video started, the camera was facing the wrong way.]

Oh! Oops.

[Noah was quick to realize it, at least, poking the screen until the camera changed to display his face. He was alive again but he was still pale, like he hadn't spent a day in the sun. Actually, he probably hadn't since arriving and finding himself in a living body. At least, not long enough to develop any sort of tan.]

Hey! Um.

[It was a little late to realize he wasn't entirely sure he knew what he wanted to say. He knew, but he didn't know. There was an important difference.]

Okay, so like- I think I'm starting to get the hang of things around here. The whole 'we take what we need and we don't have to pay for it' thing.

[It still felt a little like shoplifting...]

But- so, the apartment I picked doesn't have a bed. Is it a faux pas or whatever to just...take a bed from one of the others that no one's using? All the ones I looked at with a bed felt creepy...

[Don't ask him where he'd been sleeping. Actually, don't ask him if he'd been sleeping at all.]

I'd need some help, too, if kidnapping a bed isn't like- dishonor on your family, you know?

Also, this is probably a long shot, but does this place have a gelato parlor?

What are they like, movies? I'd go to one with you, I suppose. Providing it was a good one.

uuuuuh
it really depends on the movie but like
if youve never seen one before and you see a really good one its probably mind blowing
some of them have really good special effects that probably cost a fortune
not all of them need that tho
its fun seeing them in theaters too, like the screens are huge and its a whole experience

And are they just like plays? People acting out parts to tell stories?

oh man
so, sometimes they do practical effects in movies, like they have real fires or explosions that they film, right?
but a lot of stuff is done on computers- those are a sort of machine, they can do a LOT of stuff- where theyve got special artists who add in like, explosions and stuff to scenes that have already been filmed

and yeah! movies are chock full of people acting stuff out
theyre usually really good at what they do

Oh, all for entertainment? It sounds like a lot of work. And complicated.

[There's a bit of admiration to that.]

They sound very interesting. I'd like to see one someday. Do you go to them a lot, in your world?

yeah! im sure all of that stuff isnt easy to do
id have no idea where to start, myself
so like, more power to the people who are really good at it

um, well, i used to, but i havent in a long time

I can't even fathom how it works. I don't know about computers other than that they existed once, in the Old World.

so is was like, an apocalyptic event?
but theres still people?

People keep calling it that, when I explain to them what happened. I live in a post-apocalyptic place, apparently. And I suppose it's not wrong to call it that. There are still people, at least in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland.
