Video + Voice | UN: Serenity
[ For a good while, all anyone's going to see is the cityscape of the second district. There's clear movement as the scene seems to move and shake with what seems to be the sounds of footsteps in the background. ]
Hello? Hi, my name is—oh no, the video is on backward, uh—
[ There is a small pause, and after much tinkering, the feed switches over to the front camera. Crisis adverted? On the screen is a teenage girl, looking barely legal with a strange hairstyle. She has on a pretty friendly smile, with all things considered, and doesn't seem entirely too distraught. ]
—there we go! Hello again, sorry for the trouble! My name is Usagi Tsukino and I'm new to the city. So far, I've found a place to live, I think, and I'm just trying to familiarize myself with the place so it's easier to navigate.
[ She looks pensive for a moment. ]
Or perhaps more information on the place? How do things work around here? Anything is fine. [ She pauses for a moment. ] Oh, maybe a place to get food? I haven't seen anywhere that resembles a restaurant where I am, but I'm not entirely sure.
Sorry for all the questions, and thank you for your time!
[ The video feed switches off, but it seems like she somehow didn't close the voice transmission along with the video. ]
Okay...where am I, ooooh, I could really go for a large banana split sundae right about now...where does a girl get some ice cream around here?
...wait, didn't I walk past that place earlier? Huh? Why is this still on? Oh no.....!
[ And the voice transmission cuts off here. ]

[ he smiles and nods ]
of course, if you don't mind my company. I'm Kaneki, by the way.
have you found a place to stay?
no subject
I didn't know that! I guess the city also needs time to restock, huh? That does make sense! [ Considering that everyone is free, it might just be one of the setbacks, she supposes. That just means that she'll have to reconsider that eat-until-you-drop trip to the ice cream shop later on... ] I'll have to be more careful about what I get then, right?
[ Hopefully it won't take too long. ] Of course not! The more the merrier, as they say. Oh, and nice to meet you, Kaneki!
[ She gives him a nod when he asks about her living arrangements. ]
Ah, place to stay? I have! There's an apartment that I've kind of just...started living in. It's cozy and comfortable, with everything already prepared. It was a nice surprise!
no subject
[ which is good. kaneki can't imagine what this place would be like if there were issues with the restock... ]
Ah, that's good to know. A lot of places are empty so we can just take them for ourselves. No one has complained so far. [ still kind of waiting for that to happen one day, actually ]
no subject
Well, if no one has any problems with it, then I don't have any complaints! [ Unless the city is actively hurting people, then it comes her business. ] Anyway, maybe one day we can stake out the place and catch the person who restocks the city in action! It will make a good sleepover mission, don't you think?
[ Like those kids who stay up during Christmas Eve to catch Santa—something like that? Hmm. ]
Well, that's a good thing, isn't it? I wouldn't know what to say if the people who used to live in these apartments came back to just random strangers in their homes—that would be terrible, wouldn't it? [ Let's not jinx anything, Usagi! ]
no subject
Ah-- a lot of people thought that would happen at first. Some places even have things as photographs. It's strange but... It's better than living in an office or something like that .
no subject
Yeah, that's true. I don't think living in an office building would be too comfortable. I like the beds here a little too much... [ And she gets to sleep in, too. ]
Do you think they just disappeared?
no subject
[ but! ]
But if someone lived here before, we would have found proof of their existence, I think. This place is very clean, there are no animals, no proof of life, all very clean... so it all feels like it was made before we arrived.
sorry rl smacked me in the face
[ Either way, it's something to do, right? But he does bring up a very good point. ]
Oh, yeah, you're right...I haven't noticed any animals...maybe it's a prepared city? Although it seems a little ominous-sounding if you put it that way...although I guess at least we have clean stuff to use and food to eat and water to drink...?
[ Is she too optimistic to think so? ]
it's alright!
[ but he smiles at her optimism ] SO far, we have been taken care of in that regard, at least.
I think it will be alright. No- I'm sure.
no subject
Heh, you'll never know what kind of information that will be uncovered from this, right? [ Although it's uncertain whether any can be found, maybe that's a worry for another day. ] Plus, even if it doesn't turn out to be the way we think, we can always just say we tried, right?
[ There's no use in being pessimistic about it, either way. ]
