I suppose there's no reason to put this off any longer.
Recall a month ago I said that someone stole a book from me. To be more forthcoming, it's known as a skin bible from my world. About as charming as you can expect. I was concerned that the person in question would use a ritual instructed in the book.
If you experienced a series of wretched rooms, the replaying of your memories, that sort of thing -- that was the result of the ritual, at least in its limited form.
[He says with a sneer:] And you can thank Fearne for the lovely time you had. I'd exercise some caution with your belongings around her, suffice it to say.
...Though I will also bear the responsibility of being the owner of that book. I had no intention of ever using it myself, but it seems some people can't fucking help themselves.
That'll be all. Please try not to get yourselves sick or injured, I'm tired.

Argalia'll put his chops to work, smiling pleasantly and playing with a strand of his fluffy hair idly. ]
Wouldn't you consider it a potential reprieve if used well? If she managed to create a facsimile of her own home, albeit at the expense of others, is it not possible to find a way to negate-- no, mitigate less positive aspect of it?
[ It's less to Daan and more to anyone in general, really, but also still to him. He is anyone. ]
It was a lovely place, and I felt nearly at home myself... Perhaps I'm only an optimist, but I see the potential in such rituals if someone is, say, homesick or wanting to show off to another where they live. It'd be a great comfort to those who yearn to return home, as much of a bandaid as it is on things. Am I wrong?

I don't believe I've done anything to gain such blatant ire, friend. I'm only giving a different viewpoint than presented.

If it were possible, Argalia, I'm sure Daan would know something about it.

However, since our powers are absolutely fucked right now, it's why I opted to go with "not worth the trouble."

that and that only, considering what else she learned as a result. angela sighs, clearly disappointed. fearne if you're out here she is DISAPPOINTED in you. )
Take care, Daan. I'll see that Ms. Fearne has some... well, I suppose there's no proportionate punishment I could give her as one of her acting bosses, but I'll at least keep her hands as busy as possible.
( maybe she'll temporarily go move in with fearne and make sure she does a bunch of busy work. she's still on the fence on if she's letting people come back to the bookstore. probably just gave people leave not to come around if they weren't feeling well thanks to the events of the skin bible event at best for now— )
You may have had enough of books for the moment, but if not... Should you have a particular genre craving, allow me to lend you a book free of our usual story tax as some small recompense to help you relax.

Mm, I'd borrow another book on poetry, if you have one you'd suggest.

I might have a one in mind. It's primarily a collection of poems on seasons, if you aren't opposed to that. I think the way the authors described the world... and what the song of a bird means to be rather beautiful.

[ this is some silence of the lambs shit, man. then again, he did live with people who took scalps as trophies, so maybe the realization isn’t that jarring. ]
I’m not about to blame you for what happened but I hope you’ve hidden it some place safe after this. If that was limited I’m not eager to experience it in its full glory. Some memories aren’t meant to be shared.
[ the exasperation is audible: ] Miss Calloway’s the culprit? She gets into an awful lot of trouble for a lady.
no subject
At fully capacity, the dimensions are different. The memories are actually less vivid and more like... your psyche can have implications on the dimension, not a fell retelling. This was different.
Oh, trust me. Ladies are plenty capable of all kinds of trouble, her especially.
no subject
Do you think it had anything to do with her not being familiar with it or did we just get lucky? No offense meant but your world? Makes this place look like paradise.
I’ve learned not to judge a book by its cover, I’m familiar with a few who would give her a run for her money. [ Looking at you Vanessa and Constantine! ]

[voice] username: Emet-Selch
[Hardly a compliment. Emet-Selch sounds angry - and rightfully so, in his mind.]
I might offer you a sliver of gratitude for providing an explanation - albeit a belated one, yet "wretched" does not even begin to describe the experiences we've suffered thanks to this tome of yours - and not least of all the antics of your pick-pocketing associate.
That being said, I've a question which bears asking about the nature of this "skin bible". The memories we've witnessed and the trials we've faced - are those accurate reflections formed of the individuals' minds from which they were plucked? Or has this book a tendency of twisting and distorting them well beyond the truth?
no subject
...It is said that under the Trickster Moon God's hue, the truth shall be revealed. But then, I think mankind has a skewed view on the self. We ourselves can distort the truth if we're simply trying to remember thing. Philosophical debates aside, what you saw is probably what's inside of you somewhere, or whoever you were with. I wish I could give you a better answer than that, but I'm not an expert on the Moon God.
