I would like to pose a question for everyone. Consider it curiosity, or a thought exercise.
What is your understanding of God? Or experience with, if you prefer to answer that.

I was once a devout Catholic. I often miss that sense of certainty. I had faith that there was an order to the universe, even if that order was beyond my comprehension. The world and all of the beings that inhabit it were created with care and intent. Wickedness would be punished, and virtue rewarded in kind. These beliefs were a great source of comfort to me, although I did not realize it at the time.

[ In fact, a lot of what this person says sounds quite familiar. Unnervingly so, actually. ]
May I ask what changed that belief?

It was not one dramatic event, but rather time and a series of unanswered questions. Philosophically, I found myself preoccupied with the nature of good and evil, and I could not reconcile certain contradictions within the framework of my faith. A rather cliché story, in the broadest strokes.

Yes, time and a series of unanswered questions sounds quite familiar. Cliché perhaps only in the sense that it is a not uncommon experience.

Hm, normally a figure of speech, but in this case... both.

In that case, the choice of venue is yours. However, I am something of a night owl, and you will probably find me at my most agreeable in the later hours of the evening.

Fancy that, I'm a night owl myself. City Hall has a lovely seating area in the lobby. Shall we say, tomorrow at midnight?
