audio, @DONQUIXOT3, beginning of the month
[ literally so sorry to anyone who decides to check this out-- ]
HARK!!!!!!
There are new lands to discover! Such as yonder... "bowling alley"! I have seen shadows behind the contraptions at the end, but chasing them leads to nothing -- it is most perplexing. Nonetheless!!! I wished to share to all the goodly news, and to ask a simple question to all of thee!!!!
[ a beat. a blessed pause. then, very simply asked: ]
Do thee believe in justice?!

[ because she'll be there too.
the question gives her pause, though, and she hums. ]
I... do not know if there is a way to call it other than "common"? The City is large, but we all speak a common tongue -- differing dialects, for even within mine own companions there are those who speak with words I would not use myself, and the books just the same.
[ it's
a veritable melting pot of cultures, but for the ease of currency exchange they don't exactly have different languages. so the question's a little tough for her. her phone stuff is in spanish though, since she has spoken it on occasion, but that would be her "dialect" in a sense. so the common tongue thing here is actually, like, not that different than home. ]
To me, thou'rt quite the master of tongues!
no subject
( no, that won't do any good. there's a brief period of just '...' and then: )
sure. i'll look forward to it.
is the place you come from called 'the city' too?
and it's not really mastery. i'm not fluent unless i'm reading. talking's harder.
no subject
[ ... 25 of which show up on the map. where is the 26th. ]
They are all differed by letters as well. It is a most efficient system! And it matters not if thou'rt fluent or not, for I am impressed nonetheless. It is more than I know.
no subject
it's not a competition. you picked up iambic pentameter pretty quickly, right?
so even if you don't know languages you're pretty quick with other things.
no subject
Nay, the city from which I hail is far more... and also far less advanced, depending on the district thou hath found thyself in! This appears to be more, shall we say, equal among the few we have? At least so far!
no subject
'equal'... like rights and stuff?
no subject
... like rights and stuff... ]
Hmm. I would not say so! Those who have money are granted rights, while those without lack them. It is an unfair system, and one I shall uproot with mine own two hands someday.
[ corruption be gone and all. ]
no subject
that's probably the case in most places.
( he's heard it said that death is the great equalizer, but even that's not true. the souls in rukongai suffer miserably, live in squalor, and wait to be reborn. even in seireitei proper, with the way the noble houses are set up...
it's a fucked up system. and he feels a sudden pang of guilt that he hasn't done more to tear it down himself. )
good luck, though. once we get out of here, anyway.
no subject
but she doesn't, so she merely wiggles where she sits. ]
I need no luck, but I thank thee anyway! How are thee called, by the way? I have learned that not all allow themselves to be known so easily by way of the names we have registered here.
[ ...
in fact, her coworkers didn't. they left her to this alone. ]
no subject
( it's not like he's averse to giving out his first name, it's just not really his initial instinct when meeting strangers. )
no subject
[ even if she doesn't sound, won't look much older than some of the high schoolers he knows, she is older than him. ]
no subject
( about as close as ichigo generally comes to saying 'nice to meet you' back. )
you prefer don or quixote?
( which he will never pronounce properly in his life, thanks. )
no subject
I am not often called simply Quixote, so Don will do. Or Donqui, if thee prefers.
no subject
'donkey'?
no subject
[ ... thaaaat doesn't help! ]
The Don, from Don, and the Qui from Qui-xote.

( ... and unless she adds more to the conversation, he's pretty much just gonna bail on this now. social meter maxed. )
