HARK!!!!!!

There are new lands to discover! Such as yonder... "bowling alley"! I have seen shadows behind the contraptions at the end, but chasing them leads to nothing -- it is most perplexing. Nonetheless!!! I wished to share to all the goodly news, and to ask a simple question to all of thee!!!!

[ a beat. a blessed pause. then, very simply asked: ]

She said all she could, even though she'd chosen to say it very succinctly and therefore it's not as though it's going to get any more understandable to someone who's as loquacious as Don Quixote. When words fail, as they usually do, action will have to suffice, which just tells her she'll have to keep an eye on her to make sure when she wears herself out, Gebura can pluck her off the ground without fanfare.

[ such a cool woman of few words. she really has the same vibe as ryoshu, even if she resembles rodya otherwise... as long as gebura doesn't do unspeakable things to chicken wings they'll be fine. ]

That I am! It is good to know who is on thy side, no? Who shares the same values as thee? Of course, I work with many who do not necessarily share in my passion, but we all feel the same regardless!

It would be nice to befriend at least one other who agrees, though... I have spent much more of my time in heated discussion on the existence of justice rather than the verity of it.

A lot of people can't believe in something they haven't witnessed yet, that's all. You either need to find someone who's seen it happen or had that belief from the beginning, or you need to show them it's worth believing in.

... In moderation. If you don't have that edge properly sharpened and aimed in the right direction, you're just going to be the one dealing with the consequences in the end.

[ Wrath, justice... really, any reason to fight needs to be properly tempered, she feels.

I have told to be mindful of where I point my lance, for it has caused us trouble before! But I cannot turn a blind eye to those in need; it goes against my principles to do so. I shall take it to heart, however, for thou'rt one with more experience than I, and have learned many a lesson I have yet to scratch the surface of!

I suppose if I worked in a proper Office, then I would regularly be learning from my betters, but I cannot say I do not prefer the freedom I have now. Before, when thou wert still a Fixer, did thee belong to a particular section? Or were thee alike to Sir Roland, whom claims to be... how did he put it. Part of a one-man Office?

[ self-employed. that's cool. strange. but cool. maybe it had more fixers at one point and they all died. that'd make sense.

I stuck to one area of the City, but it wasn't like I had an Office to report to before too long. I wound up only taking certain kinds of jobs and it worked out, somehow.

I'm not exactly in a position to advise anyone, but I guess if you've got questions about anything related to the job, I've got enough time on my hands to hear you out. You might not like what I've got to say, but that's a risk you'll have to choose to take on your own. Same deal probably applies to Roland, though he might complain about it a lot more. Probably has some interesting stories, though.

[ most dedicatedly taking notes!!! the scars gebura wears so plainly speaks to her experience, no matter the Grade, and so she is a fount of knowledge to keep in mind. maybe a leopard. they're fierce but soft looking.

What was thy favorite part of being one?!

[ that isn't like!!! a real question for advise to be a good fixer but it is related to the job!!! ]

[ She should probably say "not a damned thing", to get some of that enthusiasm to wither a bit. It's not going to do Don Quixote any good if she loses herself to some kind of heroic fervor and ends up getting herself into trouble she can't dig herself out of.

It is a shame that circumstances have robbed thee of thy Fixer occupation, [ soft, admiring, ] for I would have love to see thee rise past even the highest grades and act as a beacon for all who would follow.

You could say my time has come and gone. [ Well, it's not wrong. ]

But I wouldn't have ever considered myself to be a beacon to anyone. I just did what I wanted, in the end. Not to set an example, just because it's what I felt like doing.

Like I said, just don't overdo it. As long as you're not an idiot about it, you'll probably be fine.

Miss Gebura! If I may say so, but thy words sounded very cool just then! I am certain there are very many who admire thee for thine attitude, and thee may count me among them! I should like to follow thine example, for it is very much my style indeed!

[ doing what she wants, on the focus of justice -- it didn't matter if there were rules or laws she might be breaking in the process, so long as it fit her worldview and aligned with her principles then it was fine and dandy. ]

A-hem! Um, what is a surefire way to rising the ranks? A companion in much the same position as I joined our Company as a way to gain experience, so that she may be graded higher. I should like to offer her advice when I see her next.

... I don't really recommend learning from me, but if that's how you feel, do what you want. [ She already recognizes she can't drive this excitable young lady away like she could certain other people who thought she was some kind of great person. Which was their own mistake, really. Gebura has never seen herself as anyone that special, regardless of her legacy. ]

But as humble as it seems, just observe. Never turn down a job, no matter how low-level it seems. You want consistency. Decide for yourself that you'll learn from every experience--rather, decide that every experience has something to learn about it, and learn it. Pay attention to everything and everyone and you'll find yourself more prepared each and every time.

I do not know what Grade thee may have been prior to thy circumstances, but do thee think it true that those of a higher caliber are treated to free meals and the like? I should like to be!!!

It's not as common as you'd think, though I guess that depends on the Fixer. The higher Grades tend to not want a whole lot of attention and just prefer to go about their business, so showing up just to get a free meal or perks would have been annoying.

Then again, there's some who would absolutely milk the attention, from what I've seen and heard. Not really my thing in particular. The real benefit is getting to choose what you do and what jobs you take on. You don't have to answer to anyone.

[ sir siegfried probably gets free meals... no, she definitely recalls him sponsoring such in a magazine clipping before, it had looked so delicious and the restaurant had wanted to merely repay him for what he'd done as an ally of justice-- ]

Hmhm, thee do seem to be the type who would wish for a quiet meal on thine own, away from the bustle if thou could help it... I rather like to be among others, though I think perhaps I have simply gotten used to it.

[ maybe. just a little. lot quieter now, with just her and sinclair taking meals most days -- but at least there is one other person. she isn't alone.

[ being a sailor might be cool. you learn a lot of curse words, apparently. don learned a lot of things in the casino too. but apparently, it also isn't all roses and sunshine on the sea either, which is fine. she likes challenges. ]
