oh yeah heads up
ive heard from certain people who committed this themselves and
apparently if you kill someone here
you get your memories wiped of the incident altogether
not sure why they'd go out of their way to do that here but they do this sort of thing where im from all the time so im very used to seeing it
probably can't say the same for other people from other worlds so you guys have to educate me on that
so uhh
im not saying you should or shouldn't kill altogether
im not your mom
but just keep that in mind the next time you got some kinda murderous urge or something
the reason why im anonymous right now is bc i don't wanna reveal who did that in the first place
it might lead to some awkward icebreakers on their part
also i wouldn't lie about something like this if anyone's wondering bc i got no time to waste on leading people on
but this is probably the worst thing any newcomer would wanna see, huh
whoops
well... welcome to this city, i guess
( ooc: feel free to threadjack and craft theories! kromer/@gripper will also be answering questions about things she knows as a victim as well. )

@anon
... ... ...
okay got it!!!!!!!!! this will be flawless. watch out world here comes don incognixote!!!! ]
to the degree in which they hath had an intention of a fight
meeting the one they had so desired to end the life of
and then not remembering the moment of their enemy's inevitable defeat!!!!!!!!
it is most frustrating i am certain!!!!!!!!!!

@Kromer
Oh, I'm sure it's highly frustrating.
It must be extra frustrating for them to know that the person they killed won't remember it either.
What's the point then, right?
no subject
that is correct!
i know that i would be most frustrated if the one whom i had stuck down did not remember my moment of triumph nor of their defeat
for it would incentivize them to merely repeat that which had ired me so
(which is not nothing i can assure thee)
save the loss of a memory dear to them, perhaps, keeping them from doing so once again
[ but if you don't care or don't know it happens then what's stopping you ]
no subject
So it's the victim's fault that they were murdered?
no subject
if they were innocent about their day
then they would be a victim and thus it is not their fault
no subject
Meeting up to talk certainly wouldn't be, right?
Having dinner.
So on and so forth.
1/3
they had dinner together? ]
2/3
saying that
as an example, of something innocent.
... ]
3/3
it is what happens at such occasions which then may lead to a victim or not
from beginning until end, it is all-encompassing
such as visiting a town thou may have called home
and passing judgement upon the neighbors who once held thee in high esteem
[ as an example. ]

Do you want to go bowling again?

Sure we haven't.
See you around, neighbor.

Weir, on the other hand, sure is eyeballing this manner of typing. Sure sounds a bit like someone he met once, doesn't it? The addition of so many exclamation points just seems to hammer through the tone sounding in his head.
So much for anonymity.
Well, whatever. Not his circus, not his monkeys.]
To have one's memories altered in this way is more than just "frustrating."
For what reason do you think this city, or its overseers, have chosen to do this?
no subject
and. don't worry. you definitely have not met this person before, weir. ever. ]
there may be one of a few reasons!!!!!
one is as punishment, for it is most invasive to have thy memories altered!!!!
[ which
when i canon update her she'll have experienced ]
another may to protect the mind from the moment of the kill or death, given its effects on the victim as well, as someone else spoke
or perhaps to encourage the use of longtime suffering versus the quicker more comparatively painless release of death!!!!!! it is most villainous!!!!!! i do not agree whatsoever with this, for to cause suffering longer than needed is to be as bad as those who would slaughter senselessly in the first place!!!!
no subject
All sensible in that they are probable, yet with no way to confirm, we continue to spin theories that are impossible to test.
[Unless someone wants to get killed again. Speak up, someone.]
Perhaps another theory, then: it is just one more attempt to make this city appear more idyllic than it is. A place where even death might not apply, for if it's banished from memory, then so may be its trauma.
no subject
i do think it may be worth a second test regardless, and as i am quite used to pain i would not mind being the subject for such experimentation
though saying so with my name doused in secrecy does not help much, no?
[ tehe. anyway. ]
i can assure to thee that the trauma of a death is never forgotten, no matter how hard one may try to scrub it from memory or how often one experiences it!
every individual may be different of course, but one always remains alert where last they lay slain
no subject
Sorry, we are backtracking.]
You would not mind dying over and over again to test a theory?
That is not, in fact, something you should say so freely over this so-called network. What if you are not nearly as anonymous as you believe to be? [lol]
no subject
i can assure thee i have washed my hands of any identifying qualities i may have
but if i have not done enough in that way, it is still alright
so long as it is for the benefit of all, i shall take this burden upon myself with nary a complaint!
[ and because she's used to dying actually ]
no subject
And what precisely happened to "the trauma of a death is never forgotten, no matter how hard one may try to scrub it from memory or how often one experiences it"?
no subject
i am one such individual
death is to be expected in my line of work, so it could be said that i am one most suitable for both the dealing and being dealt a deadly hand
[ the way weir is still learning so much about the city and its people against his will ]
no subject
Not to mention the sentiment itself. The willingness to die over and over again for the sake of others, regardless whether or not one is used to it. The concept is utterly alien to a man like Weir; a man far too selfish to see this as anything more than "helpfulness" bordering on lunacy.]
Presumably, your line of work also has a means of reviving the freshly departed?
