[ a flat voice can be heard, calm and quiet despite the current situation. oda clears his throat, and continues with a sigh. ]

I figured I would introduce myself, since it seems I won't be going anywhere anytime soon. My name is Oda Sakunosuke. In my world I worked as a detective, so I guess if anyone needs something like that, I can give it a shot.

[ he doesn't think he's very good at it, perhaps third-rate at best. but it's good to pool your resources together, right? collaborating in times of need or something like that. ]

I'd like to know what others did before coming here, and if you're still doing something related to it. Also, what's your favorite food? Mine's spicy curry.

I was a Fixer. Basically a handyman of sorts. Not for plumbing. [Yeah.] What kinds of crimes were you investigating?

[odasaku]

Fixing roofs, then?

[ he sounds completely serious. or he could be joking. with his lack of inflection, anything goes. ]

Any sort. From cases involving entire criminal syndicates and governmental corruption to finding lost pets. There's always something going on in the city that I'm from, so I guess one is never really bored.

[Also deadpan.]

Huh. You really would be a Fixer where I come from. Hm. Any leads on this one, detective?

[odasaku]

None at all, Fixer.

[ there's a hint of a sigh, equal parts bored and frustrated. ]

We're known to deal with the unusual back at home, but something like this is way beyond my knowledge. All I can say is that we're definitely not in Kansas anymore.

Not in....ah, I assume that's a place where you come from.

[Kansas doesn't sound like a real word, though.]

Unusual in what way, though?

Unusual as in our cases often deal with people that have special skills or abilities.

Like what kinds of abilities? Teleportation or something?

[odasaku]

I’ve never seen someone who can teleport, but yeah, that sort of thing.

And do you have any special abilities to investigate these sorts of people?

[odasaku]

If only things were that convenient.

[ it’s not a complete denial of having an ability, but it’s not as if flawless helps investigation-wise. maybe he can survive a sneak attack or a trap and perhaps, hypothetically, cheat in a casino, but in an investigation he is as ordinary as any police detective. ]

Where I come from, practically every Fixer's got some augmentations or abilities to deal with. You'd have yourself a million headaches.

At this point I wouldn't call it a headache. I'd just call it Thursday.

[ though not visible, he shrugs. there's nothing that he can do about people with abilities being a pain in the ass. ]

But even people without them are a pain in the neck to deal with as well. As long as they have the means and desire to be a bother, you can bet that they will become one.

Give people an inch, they take a mile. You give them an opportunity, they'll grab that and then some. Isn't that how the world works?

Not that I can say anything. I got a lot of augmentation where I could.

I'd agree.

[ the image of akutagawa comes to his mind, his annoying, dangerous mentee. he might as well be the very definition of biting the very hand that feeds, and yet oda knows that he will continue feeding him, even if his hand ended up shredded. ]

Though I'm sure others could say that I've caused infinite trouble myself, so I hardly believe I'm fit to cast stones.

[ that elicits a huff, the ghost of a laugh. ]

Is it now? I don't remember saying that I was a police detective. You won't tell on me, will you?
