text; @The Seventh Crown of the Seventh Demon King;

[ Four lines of text. ]

This is written in Victorian.
Kore wa Laterano-ji Higashi-go de kakareteimasu.
This is written in Higashinese.
This written by in Yanese. (Might be bad. Sorry.)

Please do let me know how many of these sentences you understand.

[ The first is in what would be considered Earth English, the second is what would be known as Japanese written in Romaji, but he's called it "Laterano-ji Higashinese". The third was written in Japanese, the fourth was written in some rather poor Chinese. He's called the languages themselves clearly incorrect names. What's more important, though, is that only the second one should parse as phonetic, and should only be understandable to fellow Japanese speakers. The rest are in whatever language is most understandable to whoever reads it. Funny, huh? This city sure is strange! ]

Wow...your Terra is much more different than my Earth than was apparent at first glance, my friend. I'm actually a little more surprised now, that we shared so many languages and cultural touchstones! You'd think that with such different histories, everything would be different, but apparently not...

[Actually...it kinds of reminds him of some fantasy novels he's read, where the authors will go wild flights of fancy about the magic and wars and other exciting stuff but just a regular world map with slightly different place names, so they don't have to come up with new names themselves. But of course that's silly, his friend Luo Binghe may be from a book but Shen Yuan can't assume that anyone else! If nothing else it would probably be rude.]

May I ask you a slightly personal question, though? Of course you don't have to answer if you'd rather not, I'm just curious.

Well, it's not like we're strapped for time... :)

But I was wondering, friend, how old you actually are? It's just that on my Earth, a single century is really pushing it for humans...most people tap out around 70 or 80, depending on how good their country's health care might be. So if your parents emigrated a couple centuries ago, I wonder what that means for their lifespan and for yours?

But if that's not something you're comfortable discussing, you can just forget I asked.
