Anything is possible, especially if we all woke up in the same way. That reasoning fits with my guess: that this is some sort of experiment. Why not continue to reset the experiment and hold new trials?

Well, not having any evidence against it doesn't mean that we have any evidence for that to be the case either. We might be the first inhabitants. This world might be a shared simulation. We might have been given hallucinatory drugs. Or, it could be a dream.

Plenty of options to choose from.

a simulation, though... that'd explain why it looks like someone else was here, but we can't find any of them.

Unless it's in the food. I've already met someone who's been avoiding eating at all, so that's probably not it.

If this is a simulated reality, though, we're really in for it. I have no idea where we would even start looking for a code like that. Even having this many people in town can only help so much.

can't be the food, that wouldn't be regulated enough. even if we all eat, there's too much variance. the only thing we all definitely 100% touched is these phones. maybe there's a... coating?

a simulation is a program, right? programs can be busted. or crashed or whatever. i'm not a computers guy.

And I'm not much of a tech person myself, but you are correct. If we can't crack that code, we could always try to overload the system by... doing as much weird shit as possible. Like adding bugs.
