[Now, Junpei is fairly certain they're all here for some kind of fucked up death game, because why wouldn't the third time be the charm!!— but until some mysterious costumed weirdo starts getting on all the screens and making announcements, there's not that much to go on. He can skulk around town glowering suspiciously at things for long so long.

[Well, this has paid dividends, if those dividends are popcorn and actually spending time with someone else in a non-paranoid way... It's dividends for Junpei, who true to his word goes to gather an unnecessary amount of microwave popcorn bags from the nearest convenience store (it's a meal when you're lazy and can't cook) and take them back up to his apartment 5-5 above-the-laundromat.

He'll wait on making any popcorn though. Just in case Kai from the internet doesn't show, or maybe doesn't like Movie Style Butter...

But waiting is boring, and so like a very cool person with friends, he inevitably sticks his head into the hallway to see if anyone's coming. Surely this is not when the elevator doors will open at all.]

[ The elevator doors do indeed open a moment or so later, spilling out Kai's lanky form into the hall. He peers down at the doors to try and figure out which one he wants, then pauses abruptly when he finds someone staring back instead. There's a single, slow blink before he cocks his head to the side. ]

Junpei?

[ Or else his new friend has found himself in an unexpectedly crowded place. ]

[Ack, caught. Junpei considers just ducking back into the apartment, sort of halfway does, and then leans back out again, waving an arm. Hey...]

Uh, hi. Thought you were gonna get lost.

[It didn't take that long at all, but let him retain this one scrap of dignity.]

How much butter do you like on popcorn? On a scale from "reasonable" to "grease fire hazard."

Not to worry. I have a good sense of smell.

[ Is he joking? Who can say. He just blinks placidly as he makes his way to the apartment door and politely waits to be let inside. ]

Wait, what? I didn't even make the popcorn yet.

[This is what he assumes "good sense of smell" is referring to, because what else could it be-- But here they go into his apartment. He's been working on an organizational system called "not putting anything in any of the cabinets," because he has a complex about squatting here, so all the foods that don't need to be refrigerated are just stacked up along the kitchen counters.

He gestures at the couch, which is a weird, caution-tape-shade of yellow, as he pivots towards the microwave popcorn bags and the microwave.]

Make yourself at home, I guess. We're going full grease on this popcorn.

[ Allowed access, Kai takes a moment to stand in the middle of the space and peer curiously around. Aside from the things in it the place seems largely the same as the others Kai has seen, and he can appreciate a need to make a place feel owned. A+ decorating, youkai approved.

Inspection done, he moves to perch somewhat awkwardly on a sofa cushion, as if he's not quite sure how it, or his body, or both work. ]

Is that what you usually make for movies?

[ Somehow he sounds like an anthropologist trying to do research. Tell him about your popcorn rituals, please. ]

Uh, yeah, I guess. Haven't been to a theater in a while, where they've got the good stuff...

[This microwave has a Popcorn button, thank god, so he lets that get going while he frowns lightly- and starts rooting through the cabinets for the biggest bowl he can find. Gotta be in here somewhere, right... whoever lived here before surely had a Popcorn Bowl...

He spares Kai a glance past the edge of the open cabinet and pauses, then:] You okay over there?

Sure.

[ He blinks slowly, clearly unsure what the problem might be. He's followed instructions, right? And the couch is comfortable enough, even if he'd rather be sprawling, but he can be relatively polite. ]

What else goes into watching movies?

[The popcorn is popping. Junpei's hand is on a bowl for it. The imaginary theater is all but complete. But, uh-]

Wait, have you... never seen a movie before? What year do you think it is? I'm really asking, I already met a guy from the future, so...

I know what movies are.

[ He's seen a few, followed links posted here and there. He enjoys it well enough. It's the ritual he's curious about, the way people talk about Watching A Movie. That's not something he can get without someone showing it to him. ]

I don't go....out to see them.
