I've an odd question to ask, if you'll indulge me.

Let us say a world exists where all work toward the betterment of their world, where none go without, and no one need be separated from their loved ones before they could bid farewell. Each day is peaceful and productive, and you know your place within it. You need not leave until you are ready, and only when you feel fulfilled.

Would you choose to live in this world or the one you came from? Why?

And to those who know why I ask this question, I pray you answer as well, and do so honestly. I promise 'tis in the spirit of keeping an open mind.

Well, it'd be nice to always be ready yourself to come or leave, but I think that isn't so true for everyone else. I just think about the voices of those who might not be noticed.

Even if we're happy to let go, not everyone feels it at the same time. I just wonder if they would have someone to cry with.

'Tis hard to say. I wish they'd have someone to share their woes with, myself, but it's as you say: some feel it sooner than others. And some barely realize until the time is upon them.

Would that time could be a little kinder.

Where I am from, there are many things that are not patient or gentle. We go too quickly or too slowly and we have difficulty finding peace.

But every world has a beauty to it. Even this one.

I agree. While different from my home and far, far crueler at times, nowhere else could I have had the chance to meet so many new people from so many different walks of life. Lives I never could have imagined, even.

That alone is worth it, I think.

Yes, exactly! I think we have much to gain from being here. We're experiencing things that we never would have in our home world.

If I had a choice, I wouldn't change things. Struggle is also part of the beauty of living. Sometimes we might feel pain, but I don't regret that.

Hm... I'm not so sure about that. I have a few things I might change, I think.

But that doesn't mean I disagree. I quite like your view of things, I think.

Perhaps there are things we can change. We don't know until we try.

If I eventually return, then I'll be happy to have stories to share. In the meantime, I'm happy if I can keep doing things here. Doing that is how we know we're alive, right?

I think if I *didn't* share the stories I've gathered, I'd have an earful waiting for me. But aye, I'd much prefer to remain living in these circumstances.

It sounds like you have a beautiful place waiting for you. I can understand why you want to get back to it.

Are you worried that we are staying here too long?

Yes and no. Hard to say, really. 'Tis not as if there's a specific time limit when it comes to how long I can afford to be away, but it isn't as though there *isn't* one, either.

I suppose I'd only really start to worry after, say... a year?

Well, that means you still have time!

I think we will all get where we need to be eventually, but meanwhile we can learn about each other here. There really are some fascinating people to meet.
