Does anyone know how to beat the Fire Sanctuary in Recorder of Chronology?

I'm stuck.

Also does anyone else's game glitch out when you enter the temple? I keep seeing weird shadow pixels that kinda look like people. But there shouldn't be NPCs in this dungeon.

[The feed opens up to Hythlodaeus on his couch, a small pile of fabric beside him. While his mask ever remains hanging around his neck (an attempt to blend his own culture with the world he's slowly coming to learn about), he's wearing a simple--if oversized--sweater made of a soft fabric. Thankfully nothing near as terrible as the plaid abomination he wore at Don Quixote's party some months ago.]

I've a few questions for you all, if you would indulge me--though nothing nearly as philosophical as the last question I posed here, I assure you. Rather, with the gala coming up I thought it best to try and clear up some confusion I had beforehand.

One: is there a difference between a "sweater" and a "jumper?"

Two. With regards to these "leggings," does one wear them on their own, or are they part of a greater ensemble? They seem awfully thin compared to most of the leg coverings I've seen.

Three, while I can see the raised heel on some hupodema as a method of bringing attention to the shape of one's leg, I've seen a fair few where the entirety of the sole is raised. Is there a reason behind this beyond adding to one's height?

And four, which I am entirely baffled on...

[He picks up the piece of clothing beside him, revealing a pair of pants he could only have pulled out of a generic-brand Hot Topic.]

What in the world are these supposed to be worn with and what are all the belts and chains for?

goodness, i'll have to be more careful, i don't know how i keep getting so turned around with it. yes, well! good evening. it seems as though people often use this little magic device as a way of asking questions and so i rather thought i would i would ask a few of my own if it's all right.

the first is, is there by any chance someone here from the other world? the one where shakespeare comes from. i've been sitting up trying to remember how one of hamlet's speeches goes and i'm afraid i keep getting rather stuck. it's "to sleep perchance to dream; ay, there's the rub" but then i don't quite recall what comes after that. i don't suppose anyone happens to know?

the second is, would anyone happen to have a good remedy for nightmares? the dream sort, that is, not the, er. creature.

when the video starts, it's to a shockingly decently framed shot of Reno doing the hooligan squat on the front stoop of his apartment building. he's got a lit cigarette hanging from his mouth, and once he's sure that the video is rolling he takes a long drag of it before he speaks. ]

Sup. I'm Reno. Some of ya may know me from my colorful past as "guy who got yanked into pool by tentacle monster."

[ probably nobody knows him that way but it's fine. we are not concerned with strict veracity here. Reno blows a neat smoke ring and grins the kind of grin that means he knows he's being a pain in the ass. ]

I was thinkin', y'know, there's only so many of us. Probably ain't a bad idea to get to know each other, right? [ he gestures with his cigarette as he speaks as if to underscore his words. ] We need some conversation starters. Some icebreakers, y'know? Everybody's favorite highlight from their corporate bonding retreats.

So! [ he holds up a hand to count on.

one finger. ] Two truths and a lie. Post 'em, let other people guess. I'll leave mine too. Shoutout to the blond girlie who had that party a couple months back for this one.

[ brief smoke break, and then Reno stubs the butt out on the cement, exhaling as he says, ] Me, I wanna make mediocre coffee for minimum wage and not worry about shit except makin' rent.

[ and lastly, four fingers. ] "Reno, this is fuckin' stupid and I don't want to do it." Okay, nobody's got a gun to your head. We ain't even got guns here. Do what you want.

[ his four fingers curl in so he can offer a cheerful, if a bit manic, thumbs-up before he reaches out to turn off the video.

just before he touches the button, though, he pauses as if something just occurred to him— ] Oh, shit—also, drop map pins for your favorite restaurant in this place. I'm in the market for new eats, bonus points if it's spicy.

[ okay, now he's gone. ]

So on account of being mildly inconvenienced for a whole three seconds, I have quite magnanimously taken it upon myself to rectify this little problem.

That is to say, the streets need names.

There's a lot to get through, so I'm open to suggestions. Shoot me your best or worst or funniest ideas and if there's a particular road you want to call it by.

Except for the road I live on, already decided that one's going to be Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis Lane.

[ it starts a little like this: a camera tripod filched from an electronics aisle, the slow turn of a phone camera angling itself against a non-descript concrete wall. mid-afternoon and the sun slants down like ravishing little lancelets; the video quality glints for it as the individual behind it adjusts its angle until the entirety of the blank concrete wall looms like the assertion of an irrefutable statement.

and then, without another word, kaveh begins to paint. ]

oct 1. between the conception and the creation

[ the base layer is done with a roller the length of a small couch. a closer examination will see that it is, in fact, two paint rollers put together and carefully affixed so that the roller surface is seamless. the base layer is an uniform dark gray that spreads out in even strokes from left to right.

somewhen during the livestream, the video seems to shutter. in the way of all horror movies, kaveh is no longer alone. also in the way of all horror movies, kaveh seems completely oblivious to the fact. it's not until kaveh's lifting his left hand to move the paint can that the jingle of handcuffs can be heard.

if kaveh is at all disturbed by the fact that a sleeping (???) man (perfectdevil) is suddenly handcuffed to him, it only shows in the brief pause of his countenance, before he's leaning down with a paint roller and a frown. how the rest of the livestream goes: the man is summarily shuffled onto a rolling platform concocted from four wheels, an axel from a wagon and a piece of plywood. this is kaveh, wearily pulling said man and platform combo after him in the shade the way a child would a little toy cart as he swaps to his right hand and finishes the base layer.

then, sitting at the base of the wall, still in handcuffs, kaveh pulls into frame three buckets of paint, and begins to mix until dusk. ]

oct 2 - 6. between the emotion and the response

[ the mural grows. kaveh, now uncuffed, whose hands are used to wresting dreams into a reality where dreams go to die, wrests paint and shape and form into something the eye can digest. what is kaveh painting? by day three of non-stop detailed work, the following image begins to take form in gestalt: ]



[ yes, that's welt yang posing. yes, that is an explosion behind him. no, they're not taking any questions. (please ask questions)

the middle of the livestream also features riveting moments like these:

- kaveh's red clips unraveling every thirty minutes and the increasingly messy crow's nest that evolves from his hair as he half-heartedly attempts to fix it, including, at some point, with a pair of thin-tipped paint brushes that remain there for days.

- kaveh non-stop talking to himself, and you, because apparently he just can't help himself. sometimes it's clear that he genuinely is just talking for the sake of it. there are gems like "is it possible to prove that we all see the same colours?" and "ah. nothing is on fire, fire is on things." and "wait. does a straw have one hole in it or two? and who's counting?"

- paint water.

a few instances of paint water. the splutter of which has kaveh recoiling from his cup as he reaches for the wrong one for the third time with a tired grimace and a bit of faithless swearing: ]

Oh, Lesser Lord, that's vile.

[ anyway, sorry to any young'uns trying to make out on park benches this week. you may be doing it under welt yang's badass and slightly disapproving look. ]

oct 7/8. (weekly reset) falls the shadow

[ it ends a little like this: not with a bang, but a whimper. the mural, which the livestream has captured with unfaltering efficacy for the past seven days, vanishes in the flicker of a frame at the strike of midnight.

the week resets. the concrete wall is bare for it. ]

[ ooc: this is an art livestream that takes place over the course of oct 1st to oct 7/8th! kaveh is in his art livestreaming era ig. kaveh is literally going to be painting non-stop this mural and he's going to finish it even if it kills him. finally insomnia is good for something. the mural is temporarily located in district 1 near where the welcome diner is.

on oct 1st, he is handcuffed to lestat for the duration of the painting process, but the cuffs will be off for oct 2nd onwards. feel free to reply via voice/text and he'll chat during the livestream with you while he lovingly renders welt's nose, or drop by in person so you can see him accidentally drink paint water.

Hello, everyone! As I’m sure many of you have experienced yourself, suddenly arriving in this place on the train can be more than a little disorienting. And though many people here are incredibly kind and willing to help, Robby and I thought that it would also be nice to have a place where new people can be directed to in order to get some information, a warm welcome, and some equally warm food. So we’re planning on clearing out a space somewhere near the main train station to turn it into a welcome diner of sorts.

We know people are arranging clubs and have regular meet-ups, [ speaks up Robby this time, ] so we thought they'd be a good place to advertise them. Let them know who's running clinics, who to ask about the kiosk or the city. Share what's happened here, too.

[ There's the faintest shift in Robby's tone at the mention of that, but he quickly adds: ] Oh, yeah, and we know there's been talk about how supplies are doing. The food's gonna be packaged and good to take out if people want it–if you wanna help with recipes, or help out with the idea in general, let us know.

Greetings. As new arrivals are brought to this dimension around the same time each month, to my knowledge, there are a few topics that I'd like to raise.

1. The tourist center's suggestion box. I know of one submission thus far. Have other requests been made? If so, have you received a response? If not, I intend to compile and submit a number of suggestions in order to test it further. Suitable contributions would be appreciated, in writing or in person. Should you prefer the latter, you can usually find me at The Bookstore.

2. The Bookstore itself welcomes your stories. In exchange, you would receive an item from its existing collection.

3. There was discussion of a variety of ways to meet like-minded individuals, both recently and last month, such as art or a story sharing club. Perhaps it would be beneficial to draw additional attention to these as newcomers arrive.

4. What measures are currently in place in response to the unexplained disappearances? I am assuming that most of us have the option of sharing our chosen living space with others.

5. A change in the rate at which resources are replenished was observed earlier this month. Have we confirmed since then that all locations are affected and identified to what extent the previous rate has changed?

Hello, all. Uh, I don't mean to alarm everyone, but...

[That's usually how people cause alarm. Good work, Hob.]

I noticed something strange during my recent walks. I have a path I routinely take as I explore the city, walking different areas each day in case there's something out of the ordinary. Well, I typically stop in the same shops for some water or food, or to carry something home. When I went into one of the stores I frequent, I noticed the things I helped myself to previously haven't been replaced. It always was, before.

[It's hard to mask his concern.]

As more people typically arrive about once a month, if resources get scarcer... shouldn't we think of something?

[A quick smile.]

Or maybe it's all a fluke! A temporary disruption in services. That's all.

[That could be it, right? Hob doesn't have to eat to live, but starving is not a lot of fun.]

I've an odd question to ask, if you'll indulge me.

Let us say a world exists where all work toward the betterment of their world, where none go without, and no one need be separated from their loved ones before they could bid farewell. Each day is peaceful and productive, and you know your place within it. You need not leave until you are ready, and only when you feel fulfilled.

Would you choose to live in this world or the one you came from? Why?

And to those who know why I ask this question, I pray you answer as well, and do so honestly. I promise 'tis in the spirit of keeping an open mind.

Hello, this is Kaneki. [ he is always going to introduce himself and say who he is because he never did social media before. kaneki is awkward like that ] I hope everyone is alright after what happened.

I have been realizing that despite me coming from a version of Earth, my version is different. All Earths are very different from each other. Did your Earth have another sentient species besides humans? I wonder if that's an exception or the norm.


On an unrelated note, I had the idea of sharing stories. Since there are no written books in this place, we could sit down and tell each other stories we know, or even stories we make up. Like... a book club, but instead it's a story club.


There would be snacks, of course. I can bring and make coffee.
