I come to you with a question in burning need of an answer, but first, a little context.

I have thrown many parties in my time, and have attended even more, and though I'm not at all interested in making this world a facsimile of my own, I am looking to cut loose a little, as the phrase goes.

It is my companion's birthday on Wednesday, October 4th. He doesn't enjoy attention, unlike myself, and will probably loathe the idea of any kind of celebration being thrown in honour of the occasion for a great many reasons, but I so rarely listen to his reason that I feel it would be more of a surprise to him if I didn't try to host a little get-together. And he deserves a little predictability.

I know he wasn't incredibly social before my arrival, but even without familiarity I can't see any reason why you'd be reluctant to attend a gathering with free food.

So, for my question, I would like suggestions for a location. Perhaps a restaurant of some kind? Typically, I would pay someone to do all this planning for me with only a vision in mind, but this City is nothing if not encouraging of being self-sufficient.

Also, if anyone out there is a musician: I have a few guitars, some drums. I'd like to play a song or two as a source of entertainment, and we all know solo acts are never quite as successful as a whole band.

For everyone else, please feel free to come along. Details will be added when I have them.

Ah, such a choice. I would prefer something upscale, but I know for certain he would prefer down to earth.

Perhaps something in the middle? But nothing too formal. I used to enjoy the rigorousness of that kind of attire, but I've since grown quite attached to rebelliousness.

Having a bartender will go down very well, I should think. The easier it is to tempt those who need it most into letting their hair down, the better.

Can't have trauma about it if I don't even know when my birthday is. I honestly just forget that it's normal for people to celebrate it than not sometimes.

Sometimes all you need is a decent drink. But yeah, I can make my own or do something traditional. Want met to just bring supplies?

I picked them up when I first arrived. I was afraid I might have landed in a place without music after I saw the state of books here. How relieved I was to find the guitars retained their strings and still produced a sound. I took two home with me, an electric and an acoustic, to cover the bases.

If you are so interested in making music, I would be delighted to jam.

Damn, that was a good idea. When I first got here, I thought about hunting down a guitar or two, but this place gives me the creeps. ( It probably doesn't help that he also was dealing with the unbearable weight of realizing that he kind of died back home. )

Ah, my friend, that would be perfect! I'm sure Louis would love that. The paintings that previously hung on the walls of our apartment were, frankly, abysmal.

However, I will only accept such an offering if you show your face at the get together. It may not be your thing, but I give you my word I'll only insist on an hour or so of your time.

All this planning and I didn't spare even a single thought to games! I love party games. The one where you have a name attached to your back that you must guess by asking the other patrons questions was always my favourite. Such a good way of striking up conversation.
