I come to you with a question in burning need of an answer, but first, a little context.

I have thrown many parties in my time, and have attended even more, and though I'm not at all interested in making this world a facsimile of my own, I am looking to cut loose a little, as the phrase goes.

It is my companion's birthday on Wednesday, October 4th. He doesn't enjoy attention, unlike myself, and will probably loathe the idea of any kind of celebration being thrown in honour of the occasion for a great many reasons, but I so rarely listen to his reason that I feel it would be more of a surprise to him if I didn't try to host a little get-together. And he deserves a little predictability.

I know he wasn't incredibly social before my arrival, but even without familiarity I can't see any reason why you'd be reluctant to attend a gathering with free food.

So, for my question, I would like suggestions for a location. Perhaps a restaurant of some kind? Typically, I would pay someone to do all this planning for me with only a vision in mind, but this City is nothing if not encouraging of being self-sufficient.

Also, if anyone out there is a musician: I have a few guitars, some drums. I'd like to play a song or two as a source of entertainment, and we all know solo acts are never quite as successful as a whole band.

The pieces I have memorized are mostly by German composers. I can always approximate anything you like, so long as you never ask me to play Vivaldi.

I see, I see. What has soured your opinion of him in particular? Is it simply that you don't like Italian composers as much? Do you prefer Handel or maybe Bach more?

Bach is better, but Handel is worse. I find Baroque music generally to be frivolous and superficial. It is all ornament and almost no depth. I mention Vivaldi only because his music for strings is overplayed to the point of exhaustion, even though it all sounds the same.

To someone who's had so much time to listen to so much, I don't doubt that eventually everything will blend into one great sound.

[ Lestat hates how familiar all this is. Or perhaps he likes it, and merely hates that he likes it. Or maybe this feeling is something else entirely. ]

... Someday I'll tell you of a similar experience I've had. It's not the kind of story for these little typing machines.

But, tell me - in the world you come from, is there such a thing as rock music?
