I've an odd question to ask, if you'll indulge me.
Let us say a world exists where all work toward the betterment of their world, where none go without, and no one need be separated from their loved ones before they could bid farewell. Each day is peaceful and productive, and you know your place within it. You need not leave until you are ready, and only when you feel fulfilled.
Would you choose to live in this world or the one you came from? Why?
And to those who know why I ask this question, I pray you answer as well, and do so honestly. I promise 'tis in the spirit of keeping an open mind.

It is a very nice concept. I can't help but think it would be missing some of the variety of the human condition, though.

But I'm curious: what do you think would be missing?

Not only that, but every story needs a little friction. Some conflict here and there adds spice! The good guys and the bad guys, their constant battle for dominance! That's what makes a story worth reading.
Is this the world you speak of the one you come from? And you have no evil in this world whatsoever?

That's one way to look at it, I suppose. And from the perspective of writing a compelling tale, I can't say I entirely disagree.
As for my own world... that's hard to say. Much of that which appears to plague other worlds is absent from our own, that I can say for certain. But 'tis clear that such evils existed in the past, I think, otherwise we wouldn't know of their existence at all. 'Twould be more accurate to say that mankind has learned from the mistakes of the past, I think.

But as you said, such a thing is hardly compelling. Life is nothing if not the opportunity for a good story. As an author of my own autobiography, I can attest to that much. Without the hardship, I would barely have a thing to write about.

At least you have the opportunity for inspiration here. You'll have to make sure to write something nice before this City grows tired of you being here and spirits you away like the rest.
