Greetings. As new arrivals are brought to this dimension around the same time each month, to my knowledge, there are a few topics that I'd like to raise.

1. The tourist center's suggestion box. I know of one submission thus far. Have other requests been made? If so, have you received a response? If not, I intend to compile and submit a number of suggestions in order to test it further. Suitable contributions would be appreciated, in writing or in person. Should you prefer the latter, you can usually find me at The Bookstore.

2. The Bookstore itself welcomes your stories. In exchange, you would receive an item from its existing collection.

3. There was discussion of a variety of ways to meet like-minded individuals, both recently and last month, such as art or a story sharing club. Perhaps it would be beneficial to draw additional attention to these as newcomers arrive.

4. What measures are currently in place in response to the unexplained disappearances? I am assuming that most of us have the option of sharing our chosen living space with others.

5. A change in the rate at which resources are replenished was observed earlier this month. Have we confirmed since then that all locations are affected and identified to what extent the previous rate has changed?

That's unusual, isn't it? No organizational hierarchy whatsoever?

At the bare minimum you'd at least think someone would've acquired the artifact of power or stolen fire from the gods or pulled some object out of a stone and gotten themselves recognized as king by now.

That said, I'm reasonably new and have never submitted this nature of request, so ostensibly I'd make a fairly good unbiased test subject if there's something you particularly want asked.

I suppose one explanation could be that a hierarchy imposed on that scale would be meaningless, or that it would meet with resistance.

As for your offer, that would be helpful. If you have no personal requests, I'd also like to test whether multiple people submitting the same suggestion has any impact.

Well, so long as we don't all start deifying an inanimate object out of a craving for structure, I suppose.

What sort of personal requests do people usually make?

You appear to be speaking from experience on all counts.

[ And it is true that certain circumstances can drive people to seek meaning and comfort and such things in inadvisable places. It was common enough among susceptible employees in Lobotomy Corporation. ]

With regard to existing requests, a zoo is one example with no response.

Something like that. I'm familiar with trends, motifs, themes. If an occurrence repeats often enough in a variety of different circumstances to the point of becoming one, there's clearly something compelling about it.

A zoo. So, a variety of animals and other creatures in contained exhibits that the citizenry could visit at their leisure? I'm not unfamiliar with the concept, I just want to make sure we're envisioning the same thing.

Correct. I believe this submission was prompted by the city's lack of animals, as well as a liking for certain species in particular.

Do you ever wonder if they're not present because we're the animals in the contained exhibit, ourselves?

Yes. That comparison seems all too fitting.

You mentioned that you're relatively new to this place. Nevertheless, I presume that you're already aware of the events at the mall or the bank.

Assume I'm not. What briefing would you give on those events to someone who wasn't aware of them?

Then I would begin by informing them of the likelihood that we will be subjected to similar distressing occurrences again. The bank forced people to confront memories associated with personal items found there, while the mall generated simulacra of significant individuals in one's past. Encountering them resulted in the target either experiencing a vivid vision of killing this person or being killed by them. These visions could reproduce real memories or fabricate convincing ones. Any bystanders also witnessed them.
