This might be a silly question. But how do you suppose we should be counting our birthdays here?
I technically should be 19 now, I think.
But if it's Halloween, I'm still a bit away from my birthday, too.
Should I be 18 or 19?

seems like you could celebrate it if you want and not if you don't want

But it'd be easier to go along with this place's calendar, right?

i'm not even sure i was "born"? technically speaking
obviously i don't remember it
and i don't have any proof of this
but i'm pretty sure i was just grown in stasis until i was like six

Humans made you? [ he mentioned experiments with people back in his world before, so now it really makes sense ]
But you can pick your own birthday now and celebrate it, if you want.

[ it's all coming together, yeah. heine the experiment, the bioweapon, the monster. ]
i guess i could, huh...
maybe i will once i feel like being born is something to celebrate

Do you prefer being here, in this place? [ kaneki has met a couple of people who do. And he gets it, too. ]
no subject
you're not the first one to ask that and i didn't know then either
there are some things about being here that are better
and some things that aren't
depends on a lot of different things

I do hope while you are here, things are easier for you.

and same to you

he'd still rather be home, though]
Thank you.
