This might be a silly question. But how do you suppose we should be counting our birthdays here?

I technically should be 19 now, I think.
But if it's Halloween, I'm still a bit away from my birthday, too.

Should I be 18 or 19?

I suppose. To be honest, if we start making traditions here, this place will start to feel a lot more permanent. Most of us don't want that.

It's the sort of thing we take for granted because we are so used to it. I wouldn't even know how it all works, even though to me it's just something plain.

Perhaps, but... while we may not wish to call this city a home, I believe that there are many things that people miss that they do not have here. It may be a double edge sword.

When someone becomes accustomed to something that we see every day, it is easy to take it from granted without realizing it.

You are right, it is.
It will depend on when the time comes, I believe. Sometimes, being spontaneous is better than expecting to plan everything for the next holiday.

I do believe that may be something to expect within this city. I have found during my time here that many things happen and are planned more spontaneously than not.

yes, exactly. We are always being thrown into all sorts of situations too, so we all end up going along with the flow.

If I may... How long have you been in this city?

Not long, actually. I arrived three months ago.

I regret to tell you that I have been here since others first started to arrive in this city.

Was this place really completely barren?

There were machines that would give us vague answers, if any at all -- and literature that did not contain knowledge, either.

Perhaps it would be best to speak of it as barren, after all. Even so... it does not seem as though we have more information than we did at that time...

That's true. There are more of us, for sure, but we still don't know anything.

I do not doubt that we will find more information, but it will not be as a result of us searching for it.

Perhaps the edge of the city. New places appear all the time, so I've been wondering just how they show up.

Perhaps if several groups were to travel to various parts of the edge of the city, we may be able to uncover that for ourselves.
