AFTER I rip out all these seats. They need to come out before any of the other work can be done. I've someone helping me with moving buffet tables back and forth, but there's no room to put them if these don't get chucked somewhere.

Give the seats to Heine. Louis is your new inventory manager so make sure he's aware of your specs and procurement locations of anything that requires, well, specificity. And give me a brief overview of the sequencing on what needs to happen in which order so I can coordinate when to have which people on standby.

Oh, I did just get the patio set up. We can do an exchange there. There are chairs, and there's a barrier so that neither of us can throw the other off. Not easily, anyway.

I was thinking what we can do with some of the planetarium chairs, so I put some feet on them and now they make an excellent patio set-up with a few posh-looking tables.
You ought to come take a look. You can still recline in them, after a long night of dancing and whatnot.

Okay, patio, do we need...greenery? What's the decor aesthetic? I'll come have a look.

Hey, now, there's no need to be that sarcastic about it! Well, I suppose a little sarcasm is fine. If you didn't have a little of it, you wouldn't be you, and I'd have to find Reno to fill in that sarcastic redhead niche that I've carved out in my life. I assure you, it's a perfectly fine patio, and I was thinking that there may be people who aren't so fond of crowds who can use it as refuge.
Oh, but greenery would be nice. Here, come take a look, and think of which fake plants we can steal from the mall. I refuse the real ones from the greenhouse, who knows if they'll suddenly start talking half-way through the night.

That wasn't sarcastic, I'm actually excited. It's so refreshing when other people take initiative because it means I don't have to do everything myself.

Oh. Um, well. I'm surprised, actually. I thought I'd have to fight you on the inclusion of the patio, and, then the resources spent on it, and then the timeframe I had in mind to sew a nicer pattern onto some of these tablecloths. They're terrible, really.

Or perhaps I'm simply not used to my ideas being green-lit? Ah. Well, I'm glad you like the idea. We'll need greenery, and I was thinking fairylights to mimic the stars.

Why would I fight you on it? It's another place for me to stick up 600 post-it notes reminding you to hydrate.

We have people who can do the sewing, give that to Badou. Also I'm not deliberately trying to make more work but Lestat raised an interesting point about corsages, and your comment about the greenhouse reminded me of it. Should I see about getting some fresh flowers on standby? I can handle the greenery at the same time.

And rich of you, to tell me to leave work to Badou when I can see that you're thinking of the greenery. I now you're involved with organising the music for the venue already. Give the greenery to Tsuruno and Altria to do. I'm sure they'll pick out something lovely, and Tsuruno already knows how to deal with the plants there. That leaves you just enough time to have a bite of some kind of sandwich.
Corsages, though, I do like those. Are they often present in dances like these? Our galas in Sumeru are different.

You know, I have to say I'm really kind of warming up to the whole "adversarial codependency" thing this event is turning our relationship into.

It's a staple in a lot of variations of this type of event. The problem here is the element of social pressure because it's visible — if some people have them and others don't, those that don't might feel left out or slighted. Others might've been more than willing to give their date flowers but, like you, weren't aware that some would consider it protocol. I'm just trying to get out ahead of something that could possibly cause some unintentionally hurt feelings by having an on-site way to course-correct.

You just enjoy being a bully.

Though you are, in fact, the most empathetic bully I have had the pleasure of being bullied by. Perhaps, then, the solution is choice. Have the corsages by the door, each person gets given one if they don't already have one. And each corsage can come with a little note explaining their function and what to do with them if they'd like.
Ah, we'll need to get those to printing. I'll have Alhaitham handle it. What good is his Haravatat education if he can't string together a series of words and make copies of them?

I enjoy being right, which can easily be mistaken for being a bully when it's being perceived by people who are wrong.

That works, though. Something discreet, such that a person who didn't have one and didn't want to draw attention to it could, say, just slip one on and quietly moot any inquiry. All right, then. Greenery is covered, flowers are covered, printing is covered.

Maybe that means there's time to drink water and eat a sandwich.
