I also have an entire apartment of fine clothes, and I can always pick up some more, in order to run a kind of 'outfit hire' on the evening. Black tie events often have cloakrooms and the like with stylists ready to assist, and I'd rather have the option there to maximize the overall look of this shindig. The last thing you want at a gala is for most of your attendees to be poorly dressed.
[ Heaven forbid. ]
no subject
Oh, the outfit hire is a great idea! Do we need a space for that on-site, or are you going to do it out of your apartment? Just let me know.
no subject
On-site would be best I think; a man deserves the right to keep his lair a secret, you know?
[ His human role-playing was going so well until he said lair. Smh. ]
Though, don't trouble yourself too much with accommodating me. Give me a room, and I'll take care of the rest of the set-up myself. Or make bending to my whims one of Louis' jobs, I suppose.
no subject
...
I'm. Um.
I guess I won't be needing the service, myself, since I already know what I'm wearing. The...green dress.
no subject
I'm delighted to hear it. You'll have someone do your hair? It should come as no surprise that despite my varied and impressive talents, the knack for hairstyling has passed me by. I was always told off for being too rough.
I hope you have nice shoes, too. And you'll need a corsage, of course; be sure to tell whoever is taking you that it is a must.
You'll permit me a dance, too, won't you?
no subject
But I'll make sure I pick up a corsage and wear it, since you think it's important. And for your efforts toward the cause, you can have two dances, minimum.

[ He's using the full name and everything. ]
That simply won't do. What is wrong with your date that they won't get one for you? You tell me who they are and I'll explain in detail why it's imperative they make such an effort.
no subject
Well. The thing is, you're already speaking to my date, Lestat. It's...me.
-> voice
You mean no-one has asked you? But you are hosting this thing! By all means you should be fighting off requests left and right for your hand, and that's even before we get started discussing what excellent company you are, and how funny you are and what a truly magnificent sight you'll make in that dress!!
Mon dieu, have the people in this place no taste? No idea what they're doing? I offered my services to ensure your guests looked the part but I'm afraid some of them will have to learn very basic manners before you have a proper gala on your hands, chΓ©rie. What a travesty. No, I won't accept it. I'll find you a date, ma rousse, don't you worry about that. Tell me what you like in a partner, and I'll be sure to find someone equipped to treat you right in this band of absolute animals.

And because she's been going at a speed of twenty miles a minute lately, she automatically activates the speakerphone when she unthinkingly answers the ring.
Which. Is how. The entire workshop is treated to Lestat's tirade, cranked to full volume like all her other calls to ensure that whatever is said can be heard over the din of construction.
Whoops.]
Helβ fuck me!
[Exclamatory, not literally.]
...Well, you've. Amply impressed your intentions on the entire construction site, for one thing. Hi, Lestat.
no subject
Then it dawns on him. ]
I didn't realize you were going to put me on the loudspeaker.
[ He huffs, just once, then barrels on. Just the same as he refuses to let himself feel fear, he is similarly firm with feeling embarrassment or regret. ]
Regardless! It's a good thing they heard. I dare say more than a few of them will agree with my sentiments. It's barbaric, the idea of you going alone. I won't have it, I'm telling you now. I won't rest until I've found you the ideal companion for the evening.
no subject
[Boop. Just gonna get that back off speakerphone, real fast.]
...Anyway. Sorry about that. And really, it's fine, if I get one for myself everyone can just wonder who my mystery admirer is and speculate, which is even more compelling than having a real one. ...Not that I don't want a real one, I just think most people are already taken.
no subject
As delightful as the mystery of it would be, it's an insult if there is no mystery admirer at the other end.
You said it yourself that you would like a date, no? There is only one way to find out who's taken and who isn't, and I will do all the groundwork for you. Call it an act of gratitude for all this.
Now, tell me what you like in a partner and know that I won't hear any more excuses. And that I'm quite stubborn when it comes to getting my own way.

[Thus comes the mournful whalesong of a Ghost fully aware of her own defeat. Thank goodness for Kaveh's patio; it gives her an easy place to retreat to and a comfortable chair to collapse in, and the relative privacy of not having to admit her tastes in people in front of venue and everyone.]
You're really going to make me do this, huh. All right, fine, I...
[A beat; she sighs, and her tone goes softer, her words quieter. Not defeated, but at the very least resigned.]
I like people who are...lively. Not just charming or charismatic, but enthusiastic. The kind of person who can be handed every reason to be bitter and jaded and withdrawn, but still come up...loving life. Finding wonder in it.
[wow it almost sounds like she has a specific person in mind as she comes up with this. Can't spell necromancer without romance!]
Because they make me feel at ease at a venue like this. I stop thinking about all the problems and hangups and complications, and get carried along on their enjoyment of it. That's what I like.
no subject
Well, there's himself, of course, and the thought does make him smile a little. ]
I understand completely. I think those aren't lofty requests. I'll be sure to find someone to whisk you away into a storybook evening.
[ He sounds very certain of himself, but he did already mention how stubborn he is. ]
How hard can it be, after all? And I'll be sure to make sure they buy you the corsage. Something to match your dress perfectly. Leave it with me, ma rousse.

[ says kaveh, still holding that sandwich menacingly. ]
