My name is Ken Kaneki, I'm 18 years old and I come from Tokyo in Japan. I have just arrived.

There are still many things I don't understand about this place. But I'm curious, is there a library in this place? Or a bookshop? Or any place for me to find books?

And where do people live? Do you just take a room for yourselves, like everything else? [ it just sounds wrong... ]

What are we meant to do here? [ what is the point of being here, he wonders ]

It's been rather peaceful.

(No real danger or anything to really make him worry for his safety. His only real concern is returning home but they haven't made any progress there.)

I heard some people got locked in the bank before.
But I think it's the fact that we were kidnapped and not explained what is going on that upsets most people.

Senseless things happen all the time. It isn't my first time finding myself in a new place by surprise.

Wonder? I think it's normal to ask each other questions, that's how people get to know one another.

(Being taken and passed around as a sword is different from taking a person but he isn't going to explain this. )

I agree! Wonder and curiosity are essential for living an interesting life. Without them, everything would get boring so fast...

But if you want to get to know people, there are plenty of people here.

I don't think there are that many of us. This city feels very empty.
