Hello.
My name is Ken Kaneki, I'm 18 years old and I come from Tokyo in Japan. I have just arrived.

There are still many things I don't understand about this place. But I'm curious, is there a library in this place? Or a bookshop? Or any place for me to find books?

And where do people live? Do you just take a room for yourselves, like everything else? [ it just sounds wrong... ]

What are we meant to do here? [ what is the point of being here, he wonders ]

Then there must have been some form of currency which working people used to trade between, right? That's how commerce can flow easily.

Yet there isn't a single piece of currency anywhere in this city. It isn't realistic to think someone was really able to collect every single coin from every building before we arrived.

Wouldn't that mean this whole place was then prepared only for us?
