hey. bumped into people around here looking for others to do stuff with, like sports, hanging out, etc. was thinking we could share what hobbies we have and maybe find people to do stuff with. or even just chat about whatever.
i visit the gym for muscle training with a friend, go running with another (who should talk about that). used to skateboard and even played soccer years ago. i know karate if anyone else does it. and a sensei who won't mind teaching if anyone's interested.
so, yeah. you into fashion, music, or just want to talk about something with people, could be fun. find out if anyone else is really into big fluffy birds called chocobos
( ooc: please mingle, share character hobbies or whatever your character wants to chatter about. no need to ask robby anything. ♡

[ You think he's here to talk about hobbies? Fool. Fool.
Just here to gush over a boy, nothing to be seen here. ]
no subject
I'll be sure to help anyone with any of the above interests, and would be happy to talk about them, too. I'm also one of the older residents in the city, and lived through the 80s in America.
I believe strongly in balance, both in karate and in life. It is nice to meet everyone.'
[ :) ]
no subject
And there's so much he could say to this. At least it's not terrible, and clearly Robby is a good boy who respects him, but--
But!! ]
Do I really seem that old to you?
[ Hitting him right where it hurts, boy. At least none of his actual listed interests are embarrassing, but this part?? ]
no subject
[ Is that the problem here, 50+ year old sensei dad man? ]
no subject
Which, yes, is probably true, but that doesn't mean you have to draw attention to it!
[ Please, is he not hip and cool with the kids? Is he not down with today's youth. :( At least put 'I could be your dad' into the message if age is going to be taken into account!! ]
no subject
i thought youd want to talk to people around your age too. it wasnt meant as a dig
[ ...well, not that singular point. ]
no subject
How can Daniel fully protest when Robby is saying something like this. Sure, he can still sulk a little, but that already means he's simmering down since his old man heart is too weak for sweetly helping teens. ]
Don't worry, I know people here my own age.
[ A slight pause, and then, added quickly: ]
Around my own age. [ O-Okay, so maybe most are still younger, but apparently this place isn't really all about taking people in their fifties here, okay.. ] I actually even spoke to a guy who claimed to be immortal, if that counts.
no subject
like i did.... ]really? how old was he
[ like super old???? 52?? ]
no subject
[ You think he's actually going to ask how old the other is and risk his brain just breaking at the very idea, Robby? Your old sensei already has so much to deal with in this place.. ]
He said he was there when the Vesuvius erupted though.
Back in Roman times.
[ He's mostly adding that last part since he isn't sure if Robby would.. know..? From one guy who wasn't too concerned with school to another..
But at least that gives you an idea of just how weird this other person was, Robby. Can you understand now why he was so confused and weirded out. ]
no subject
ok
[ .................. ]
people say a lot of weird stuff here to be honest. i just zone out
do you still talk to him?
[ Should he be honest about that in public? But it's true.... he doesn't believe any of them. (And he's not sure if he believes in a guy from Roman times.) ]
no subject
At least Daniel is glad that he's being honest with him here, though he isn't sure how to feel about Robby just.. admitting that he zones out when people talk to him about stuff.. Daniel kind of gets it, since it's weird, but also-- R-Robby, that's not polite??
He mostly decides he'd feel a little weird scolding Robby for it when Daniel kind of gets it.
Maybe Robby's just a braver version of him, honestly. ]
No.
He was drunk in public. I was concerned about him, given everything that was being talked about here. You know, with people talking about
[ .. 'someone is typing' indication is blinking, yes. Daniel doesn't know how to really say this, it's just a subject he doesn't like breaching with the person he's most worried for in this place. ]
You know. About killing.
Didn't exactly seem like a good idea to be out drunk in public at the same time that was going on.
no subject
But also, a drunk guy saying he was around in Ye Olde Rome?? ...kind of a zoning out topic if Robby ever read one. He'll be nice, though. ]
oh. yeah [ ...but now he has to be the one to figure if he wants to touch on the subject of the killing? but, well, his sensei did it first...
... ]
but it was only one killing, i think. i haven't heard about any others
were there more?
[ Do you have the ear on mass killings, sensei? ]
no subject
[ Those are the ones he saw being discussed on the network. But it was just enough to fuel the paranoia still lingering in Daniel's brain after what happened back home, after ending up here. ]
Of course there's the possibility that more happened, but people just didn't mention it.
[ People usually don't confess to murder.
For obvious reasons. ]
Most people I've met here seemed too kind for that sort of thing though. [ Weirdos aside!! Maybe he should've specified, given what they were discussing only a moment ago.. But he's met some kind non-weird people, okay. Even if one of his doctors had weird powers, he still wouldn't count her as a weirdo. ]
no subject
(But does he think people here would kill them for a good enough reason?? you betcha!!!) ]
sure. there's good people around
we just need to work together. don't let whatever's doing this make us turn on each other
[ So he's been told and read a lot, or something. ]
no subject
And then Daniel does have the good sense to turn this conversation private. Not necessarily for his own sake - he's not being paranoid this time, okay, even if a whole lot about this city sure makes him feel paranoid - as much as it's for Robby's sake. He knows the boy wouldn't want the entire world to see this. ]
Have you met some people you feel like you could trust, even if things would get worse here?
no subject
theres people i dont think would stab me in the back. probably
what kind of worse are you thinking
no subject
I don't know.
[ It's an honest admission, even though Daniel wishes he could say more. That he could provide the boy with concrete warnings, so he could keep him safe better. ]
It just feels like things will get worse. But I don't know if that is just me being paranoid.
no subject
But he is considering what Mister LaRusso is saying, and he doesn't disagree. It's possible for things to get worse, but what do you do about trust? If the powers that be were to put out a message saying 'kill someone and you get to go home'? What chance would they have?
... ]
you think we should get to know more people? get on their good sides
[ Sorry if that makes you feel awkward, Mister LaRusso....maybe Robby's bad boy days are coming out. ]
no subject
There's a slight pause before Daniel's reply arrives, like he has to think about it. He doesn't think getting to know people is a bad idea, obviously, but there's something about the way Robby words it. About that last part, especially. ]
You mean doing so on purpose?
no subject
yeah. we could rub shoulders with people or do something so people know us
help in some way. stand out, whatever
no subject
But not for any other reason. [ Like rubbing shoulders, or trying to get into people's good graces. It's not like Daniel has never done so before, given his line of business, or the way he tried to advertise the dojo before, but.. ] I just want to help people because getting kidnapped here is inherently crappy.
[ No, he's not going to say shitty in front of a teenager. You can't make him! ]
So something to help out people new to this place wouldn't be bad.
no subject
Robby can't feel bad, or ashamed. He just reads what Mister LaRusso says, and helping people out? ]
you make food for people. what if we did something with that and new people?
packed lunches? tell them what's going on?
no subject
That's not a bad idea.
[ After all, Robby is right. It's already kind of what Daniel is doing, except right now he's just doing it for people he knows. It wouldn't be all that hard to extend to others. ]
Maybe with a certain location. So people know where they can go.
You know, a location that isn't my apartment. [ Since that's kind of inconvenient to get to, and it's also a little too up and personal.. ]
no subject
there's restaurants in there
[ The dreaded restaurants with their magically appearing food and creepy vibes.. ]
no subject
I was thinking outside the train station. Close to it. [ Messing with something in there might be a bad idea, since it seems a little bit too close to the machinations behind this entire city.. ] Somewhere that would be easy for new people to stumble upon when they leave the station.
Then they could not only get food, but also just some information, you know? Or just more of a welcome than anyone is getting now.
This place sucks, sure, but it doesn't have to be unfriendly while we're stuck here.
