I've an odd question to ask, if you'll indulge me.

Let us say a world exists where all work toward the betterment of their world, where none go without, and no one need be separated from their loved ones before they could bid farewell. Each day is peaceful and productive, and you know your place within it. You need not leave until you are ready, and only when you feel fulfilled.

Would you choose to live in this world or the one you came from? Why?

And to those who know why I ask this question, I pray you answer as well, and do so honestly. I promise 'tis in the spirit of keeping an open mind.

[ To be fair, Daniel actually does find himself considering this for a moment. Something about it speaks to him.

But then his thoughts wander off, and they manage to hit a different thought entirely. ]

Sorry to say this, but it seems like a rather odd thing to think this deeply about. [ It sounds a little like philosophy, almost..

Is this world maybe bothering you a little bit too much? [ Is that the reason anyone would start thinking about all this? ]

"Bothering" is one way to put it.

I'd prefer to say that it's given me much to think about.

Well, I can't exactly disagree with that last part. Especially since way too many strange things happen here.

[ Things strange enough that they make the other's thought experiment - in comparison - seem way less wild, honestly. ]

Though I can't say they've ever made me think about what you're talking about. It seems kind of philosophical.

It is, in a way. But not nearly as much as you might think.

Though I concede it also could very well have just been a poor question to ask. Some responses weren't what I was expecting, but I can't help but feel that I *should* have expected a great many of them to be what they are.

So what were most of the responses you got?

That people want to stick with the place they come from after all?

[ Because if Daniel had to take a guess as to what people might have said - especially with what the other is saying here - then it's got to be that, right. ]

Mostly, yes. Home is home, after all, wherever and whatever that home may be.

Not to mention that home is where everyone they know is.

Even if living in that sort of world means having to say goodbye to them eventually, I'm pretty sure everyone would still like to instead stick with the people they already know. The ones they already care for.

'Tis true, isn't it? I can't help but feel a little silly, asking a question with such an obvious answer as that.

No, I don't think you should have to feel bad about it in any way.

I mean, we have so much time while we're stuck here, and we don't have any of the usual ways to spend time. No jobs to work at, no school to go to, a whole lot of hobbies that just can't be done here.. I don't blame anyone for it making them think about deep stuff like this, or wanting to talk with others about it.

You're still connecting with other people this way, right? That's worth something.
