[When the video started, the camera was facing the wrong way.]
Oh! Oops.
[Noah was quick to realize it, at least, poking the screen until the camera changed to display his face. He was alive again but he was still pale, like he hadn't spent a day in the sun. Actually, he probably hadn't since arriving and finding himself in a living body. At least, not long enough to develop any sort of tan.]
Hey! Um.
[It was a little late to realize he wasn't entirely sure he knew what he wanted to say. He knew, but he didn't know. There was an important difference.]
Okay, so like- I think I'm starting to get the hang of things around here. The whole 'we take what we need and we don't have to pay for it' thing.
[It still felt a little like shoplifting...]
But- so, the apartment I picked doesn't have a bed. Is it a faux pas or whatever to just...take a bed from one of the others that no one's using? All the ones I looked at with a bed felt creepy...
[Don't ask him where he'd been sleeping. Actually, don't ask him if he'd been sleeping at all.]
I'd need some help, too, if kidnapping a bed isn't like- dishonor on your family, you know?
Also, this is probably a long shot, but does this place have a gelato parlor?

@samsa, video
I don't mind helping if you need extra hands. [ it's easy enough for him ]
And there is an ice cream parlour in District 2. But sometime ago weird things happened to people who ate ice cream there. I'm not sure if that's still happening.
no subject
[Oh no, why did you give him a choice. Now he has to decide how much he likes the apartment he's already chosen.]
This apartment feels- [He made a so-so motion with his free hand.] -which is better than the others I looked at, but I didn't look at all of them, so-
[Nope, he was still wracked with indecision. He needed a few more minutes to mull it over.]
Mmmm. What kind of weird things?
no subject
Well, whoever ate certain flavours would end up compelled to do certain things. Like you'd start laughing suddenly, or you'd try to reach for people.
I never tried it myself and I don't know if it's still happening, though. [ after all, kaneki doesn't eat ice cream ]
no subject
[?!]
I'd take the risk. So long as there's no chance of actually hurting someone else.
no subject
But I don't think anyone got hurt by it.

[ Nikolai understands where Noah is coming from, though. Just taking things feels so... wrong. And if the people here are from all sorts of different worlds, who knows what small action might cause offense? ]
I can't see how it would bother anyone, if it's just going unused. I'd be happy to help you move it, though depending on the bed, you may have more luck disassembling it and then putting it back together.
no subject
[His nose scrunched and he flapped his hand.]
Like someone was already living there. There wasn't anyone! But it felt like it. I don't want that kind of roommate.
[The other bit made him laugh.]
I thought about that too, but I don't know the first thing about assembling bed frames.
[Or taking them apart in the first place, for that matter.]
Oh, but thank you! 'Cause there's no way I could lug a bed anywhere. And you're probably right, that taking a bed wouldn't bother anyone. I just wanted to be sure.
no subject
[ He'd experienced it too, when he was looking around. That feeling that people must've been living in this place mere moments before. ]
You don't know the first thing yet! The very best way to learn how something is put together is to take it apart.
[ Spoken like someone who had been wreaking havoc disassembling expensive clocks and proprietary machinery since he was knee-high. Nikolai seems genuinely enthused by the idea of teaching this kid how to re-build something. ]
I can show you, if you'd like. Pick a bed you like and send me a message. Name's Nikolai, by the way.
no subject
[He couldn't help but laugh.]
What if I still can't put it back together again, though?
[But that sort of attitude, the idea of learning how to put things together by taking them apart, reminded him a little of Ronan. Which in turn made him feel a little homesick.]
I'd like that, if you're sure it's not a big deal. I'm Noah.
no subject
[ Even if Noah is no help, Nikolai is entirely confident in his abilities to disassemble and reassemble something as simple as a bed. But he is careful to phrase it as 'we', not wanting to appear condescending. ]
Not a big deal at all. Truth is, Noah, I'm no good at just sitting around. I'm happy for some way to be useful. I should be thanking you, really, for the project.

[Brook might've still been camping out in the park with Onni, himself...]
What's gelato?
no subject
Hey! And thanks.
It's like ice cream but Italian. There's a gelato parlor in town- back home- but no one ever wants to go there.
[His friends preferred Nino's, instead. Pizza and burgers.]
no subject
[Brook believed in sweets supremacy.]
What's wrong with the one where you're from? Is it haunted or something.
no subject
They're just like- there's this place called Nino's, and they go there all the time. I mean, I go with them, but they always hassle me about eating pizza. I like pizza, but...
[But ghosts couldn't eat.]
I guess it's like, tradition, going there.
