[Miu appears lounging sideways on a chair, legs hanging over one arm. She's got some closed nail polish balanced on her stomach and she keeps critically eyeing her nails as she speaks]
Yeah, people are being murdered, but we apparently come back so it's whatever. Explains why there's no ghosts around here, which honestly has led to the soundest sleep I've gotten in years. Can't complain about that.
Anyway the important thing is that with no one here, I haven't been able to get my hair or nails done in way too long. Does anyone know how to do nails?
[She holds out her hand to present her nails for emphasis; her nails have plain nail polish on it and she doesn't look really happy with it. She pulls back and looks down at them herself, heaving a sigh]
This place is so boring... What are you supposed to do for fun here? Aside from murder, apparently. [She rolls her eyes, her tone sarcastic. Gosh, murder, sooo original.]
But important things first: I need my nails done.

Well, there was bowling. It was fine. [a glowing review.] I guess looking for nailpolish could be fun. It still feels a little weird though, like shoplifting.

[She goes quiet and then sighs before stifling a yawn]
Well... Just think of it like a gift, then. This city's giving it to us, so it's hardly stealing when it's offered, right? If they didn't want us taking it, they'd do something about it.
no subject
[and he considers this for several moments- a wise view of things.] That's true. If it could kidnap people from all over it can probably find a way to make us pay for stuff if it wanted.
Okay. [thank you for making him more okay with taking stuff, it's been a whole thing.] What color nailpolish do you like?
no subject
I thought I'd like the peace and quiet, but the novelty of getting to sleep in all I want isn't worth how bored I am.
[She's curious what he means by spirits not being able to get close to him, but is momentarily derailed by his question.]
Oh. I don't know. I wasn't really allowed to get anything wild, and I was never really asked before... I also just had a manicure with clear polish, or like a French manicure--neat and classic. [She looks down at her nails and then the various colors she picked] Maybe red...?
[She looks at the video] Also, before I forget-- You a ghost repellent or something?
no subject
he has to nod to that though.] There isn't a lot to do but explore. I'm kind of worried about falling behind on school work...
[and after a long pause to consider this:] You could try something different now, probably. What's your favorite color?
[if spooky city isn't the time to have fun with nailpolish when is? also he knows literally nothing about nail care or nailpolish so 'fun colors' just seems normal to him.]
Oh, I'm a psychic. I also work as an exorcist part time so I guess I have experience with that sort of thing. [a beat] Most people don't believe in ghosts or talk about them though. Are you psychic too?
no subject
I don't have one. [She looks away, moving her hair behind her ear] I guess I look best in red, white, or black...? I think a photographer I worked with said I look best in white.
[But look, nail polish is not so exciting as him freely admitting he's?? Psychic?? She sits up straight, eyes widening a little.] Uh.
[huh. She thought SHE was the only one blunt about these powers.] Yeah. I've been seeing spirits since I was 3. Around then everything else woke up too. If I touch someone I can see their memories, their thoughts and feelings. If I touch an object I can see memories attached to it. And I can find just about anything or anyone so long as I have something connected to them.
[Though right now most of that is gone, but whatever.]
no subject
I've never seen someone with white nailpolish before. I wonder how that'd look. [time to keep an eye out for it. he kind of sympathizes with not having a favorite color though.] Hm, well maybe if you try a lot of them that's the only real way to see what your favorite is anyway.
[go wild, what is liminal space horror for?
he nods along to this- he's never heard of a psychic with that exact power but it's pretty varied in his world. there is one thing about this that gives him pause, hesitant as he asks,] Do... your powers feel strange to you here?
no subject
But anyway, none of that is that important. She blinks slowly, catlike at the question and glances away, mouth forming an almost sulk]
...Yeah, really strange. I haven't been able to do anything except know how someone feels. I can't read their minds or memories. Honestly, I dunno if I even have my ability to see spirits anymore, and I don't know how to test it here.
It's like this place stripped away all of it except the barest of the basics. And it barely does me any good, so I dunno why they left anything behind.
no subject
but fine, maybe some things are more important than nailpolish just this once.]
That's right... everything feels muted. My powers have too. I don't think I lost any but- [cutting off because it's very difficult to explain how any of this feels. frankly it's a bit of a relief to meet someone with similar powers in some way who knows what he means.]
Maybe it's more a block that something in the city is doing. [hm...] Oh, most people who can see spirits can see a psychic's aura. I can try to show you mine to see- but uh, I don't know if it works over video. Maybe.
[...] Ah, maybe I can't see spirits either anymore and that's why we can't see anything in this city? [weird!!!!]
no subject
[She kinda liked being set apart from everyone else, lonely though it may have been.] Maybe next time we meet up in person you can give it a try. I don't think I've ever seen someone's aura before, not really, but, who knows? Different worlds have different rules, apparently.
[Everything just had to be so complicated ugh.]
