No festivals.
No fireworks.
No tests of courage.
What a terrible way to spend the summer in a new place. I might die from boredom!
(And yet, it sounds like he's having fun. Don't worry. He'll be fine.)
Why don't we share some tales of the strange and unknown? If we tell enough stories, something interesting might appear~
Let's see... The set up isn't quite right but a hundred stories will probably do.

You summoning ghosts again? You do know they don't exist, right?
no subject
(Things that have never been human or alive.)
Now, now, there's no reason to be rude.

How about you share one of yours first? I only got some real-life experiences on me, which aren't for the faint of heart either.

You'd be remiss to forgo that sort of atmosphere ... don't you think?
no subject
You're right. It's more fun to play at night. (When the spirits are more active.) But if we start too late, we might run out of time before we reach the hundredth story!
(So they might as well start early!!!)

I'd say that ritual is important, but I can see you've already gotten into it. I suppose none of this is very traditional to begin with, is it?

You said if we share scary stories something 'interesting' might appear. Are you talking about ghosts? I'm bored enough to entertain this.

How thrilling! I’m rather fond of ghost stories myself.
Will you be keeping track of the number of tales said so far?
no subject
(The number is important!!)
So far, I'm the only one that has shared a story, though.

Maybe we could play some games too. That should liven things up, don't you think?

(Would the game still work with electric lamps? Do they havet o be old candles and oil lamps? Hmm....)
This place could use some surprises. I was thinking a good test of courage would be fun!

A story! Finally, a bit of cheer through this device. Absolutely fantastic for long-distance communication, but I was getting a little worried over the macabre. It's as if the more we communicate, the more bad news there is and the faster it can be shared.
[ a whiny metallic creak. ]
How's this? I'll tell you a story, and you tell me one. I can't say I'm a gifted storyteller, and I don't know you well enough to say if the story I'll tell is known or not known to you, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
no subject
That's the magic of stories! A story told is a story that can be shared and passed down to many... words like seeds, scattering on the wind, growing in the hearts of all who listen~ Who knows what might grow?
(A beautiful tree? An ominous flower? It would be a surprise.)
A favor for a favor. A story for a story. (This sounds fair.) Ah, don't worry about me. A story is just a story... the real heart belongs to the teller.
(It will all come down to Kaveh if he can spin a delightful tale or not.)

Is it my turn?
[ ............................ he's trying to be polite, just in case someone wants to tell their own story too. in any case, here he goes. ]
A friend of mine texted me some time ago regarding a back alley gate behind the theatre in the city. They had asked if I had the key as they'd met a smiling man trapped behind the gate, inquiring if they could open it. As the Captain of the Guards, it would've been a simple task for me.
Except there was no back alley in that section of the city. There has never been one in all of my years living in Everwinter ...

[She does have stories, and the whispers around her spoke of them. Tales from home, and stories from abroad.]
Do you enjoy listening to stories? A hundred seems a bit much, and something that would take all night.

But sometimes he does mindlessly scroll, in periods of coherency. And sometimes— something stands out. Catches hold of him.
It's familiar in a way that strikes too deep and too personal, and there's an icy shudder moving down his spine. It shows up in his voice, too, a wavering thing. He sounds terrified. ]
What..... what could appear?

A surprise, of course.

It used to be played quite frequently many years ago... "The Gathering of a Hundred Tales", that is. Have you heard of it?
