hey. bumped into people around here looking for others to do stuff with, like sports, hanging out, etc. was thinking we could share what hobbies we have and maybe find people to do stuff with. or even just chat about whatever.
i visit the gym for muscle training with a friend, go running with another (who should talk about that). used to skateboard and even played soccer years ago. i know karate if anyone else does it. and a sensei who won't mind teaching if anyone's interested.
so, yeah. you into fashion, music, or just want to talk about something with people, could be fun. find out if anyone else is really into big fluffy birds called chocobos
( ooc: please mingle, share character hobbies or whatever your character wants to chatter about. no need to ask robby anything. ♡

Oh, you are a godsend.
My entire plan was to put together a forge and see who comes around to use it, but having someone with expertise on hand will bump that up on my project list.
Let's be introduced, then. As I said earlier, I'm Kaveh, an architect. What can I call you?
no subject
You can call me Sunrise.
no subject
And I agree! The technology here and design factors are not something that where I come from we've adopted or advanced towards, and regardless, it seems that the designs are terribly soulless to begin with. I enjoy the advance of technology; I don't enjoy the uniform machine press of it. You can't live in a city like this and flourish.
What about you? What did you find odd about it?

The metal carriage we arrived in is not something I have ever seen before. Many of the buildings here are far taller than what I have seen in cities back home. Only one of them has tall glass buildings like the ones here, but I was told they are from a bygone era and were not built in the current age.
They are also made from red glass, unlike the ones here.
[ ...Like that's a notable detail, even if it only just occured to her. ]
no subject
Red glass! Now there's a vision. If only they used that sort of tinted glass here for their buildings, the entire atmosphere of the city might be a little more livable.
If you've never seen the metal carriage before - the train - then where you come from might be a little technologically behind this one, and where I come from may be somewhere between yours and here.
How long have you been a smith?
no subject
...Okay Sunrise, remember the answer you've practiced for this sort of question. ]
If you include the apprenticeship, it would be 10 years.
no subject
Was there anything specific that you've crafted that you are particularly proud of?
no subject
...Well, there's also the fact that the experience is both hers and isn't, but that's neither here nor there.
It takes a while for Sunrise to answer, because she has to think about whether she's ever felt proud of something she's made—or more accurately, what does pride feel like for her? She could pick something from "her" memories, but it didn't seem right to. Hmm...]
What does it mean to feel proud of something you've made?
[ She may as well ask, since she isn't sure how to answer. ]
no subject
Let's see...
Well, it's a feeling, first and foremost.
It's hard to describe. But it's a feeling you get when you are pleased or happy about something that you've done.
Perhaps the most pleased or most happy about that certain thing.
Say, if you often make household items and weapons, and there is a specific item or weapon that you often think back to. Or makes you happy thinking of it, or something that you wanted to tell someone else that you made it.
It's that sort of thing.
That's called 'feeling proud' of something you've made.
It's something exceptional; for a moment, you've taken something that only existed as an image in your head and turned it into reality. You've made it yours.
Does that make sense?
no subject
[ She can't say she's always good at understanding when something makes her happy, but she's gotten better at it. ]
When people are happy with the things I have made, I am happy too. I do not know if this is the same as feeling proud, or if there was one especially exceptional moment, but that much is true.
no subject
Perhaps that means there's a measure of pride in all the things in you make, or perhaps you take pride in making others happy.
Both cases are admirable.
no subject
Is there a work you're proud of, Mr. Kaveh?
no subject
Where you are from, are there palaces?
no subject
no subject
I think that would be the starting point. I built a palace, you see. It's called the Palace of the Alcazarzaray. I had a dream about it, and I took that dream and made it into reality. It was real, and for a moment, I could even call it mine.
If you were to descend into the Sumeran jungle and past the wending cliffs, you would see its green canopy rise from above the treetops. It's a fourteen-room palace built on a cliff held together by the roots of an ancient tree with a pagoda and a guest house on its grounds. It's green and wreathed in padisarahs. In the evenings, the moonlight trickles in through the stained glass windows to dye the Natlan marble floors green and blue - in the mornings, sunlight strikes off the waterfall backdrop to scatter mist-rainbows over its gardens.
So when I think of pride in my work, I always think of that palace. I don't know if I can ever build something like that again; I've always wondered if that was a blessing or a curse in of itself. But perhaps I ought to be simply glad that the palace exists, and will continue to exist long after I am gone.
Ah, I'm rambling. Sorry about that - this is getting overly long. I've attached a sketch to better illustrate what I'm talking about. I don't know if that helps.
no subject
Thank you for the sketch. It sounds very beautiful, Mr. Kaveh.
no subject
I should be thanking you. It's been a while since I've had a chance to speak of it.
Miss Sunrise, I've a few projects to work on right now, but shall we talk about the forge at some point? I'd love to hear pointers from you on what you'd like it to look like.
no subject
Of course. It would also be good if other people end up using it too.

We are well met, Miss Sunrise.
